Do The Deals You Share Get Liked Alot?
Latest Deals
I post deals that I think are Super Duper deals, and I post deals that are Super deals.
The Super Duper deals go nowhere, and the Super Deals get liked alot.
Do they just get lost amongst the other deals, or is my Super Duper Deal imagination flawed?
kevlfc why do you need examples? I was curious to how some deals get through and others dont. I'm not sure if I'm making my deals stand out enough.
I have wondered that myself but just lots of deals posted just to get points and likes just for points JenxJen
Username80994 ow you mean they get pulled up i erm get this quiet a bit all they way you word it i m still tryin odd 1 times but i ts just not my forty wording things
Page 1 has 39 deals all posted in less than an hour so you can safely say 30 pages per day. It is no wonder there are many that are missed unless you spend all day going through them.
Lynibis that is true, I get so excited when I find a fab deal, and then disheartened when it's not really liked. I just feel like I'm doing something wrong.
JenxJen Don't worry too much about it, in my opinion the "likes" bear little relevance to the quality of the deal, and never will whilst people are rewarded with five points just for clicking "like" on the first five deals they see.
I, and I suspect many others, take little notice of "likes" It's my opinion LD could do themselves a big favour by abandoning them altogether and relying on comments.
davidstockport I have noticed on my deals if they manage to get to the first page they get alot more likes. I like a deal, when I really do like a deal.
JenxJen I did check your deals and noticed that it was a low priced deal that had most likes (quite common) I also checked my own deals and noticed that it was the most expensive deal, with a saving over well over two thousand pounds, that appeared to have fewest likes (2), but if anyone had been looking for a really good deal on a quality guitar, I know that it was probably that deal that enhanced this site. (remember this site is web searchable)
I also only "like" deals if I actually like them (28 in nearly 3 years)
Most deals I post get a few likes but no comment unfortunately too many fake deals put on just to get points
Purely random . If one or more of your deals is posted at the same time as the "points for liking " members are liking their 5 a day then you may get lucky .
Sadly the majority of members do not even read (let alone buy) the deals . While it is on the first page it may get 2 or 3 likes (however good or bad it is ) .
If you are really lucky it may get 4 or 5 likes and then possibly move to the "popular" page - then it will get more "sheep likes ".
You only get out of a site what you put in . Sadly members posting rubbish deals , liking and commenting just for the points are getting what they deserve .
Thank you for your chat post.
I'm very keen to improve this: To share more information with members about how much people enjoyed their posts beyond just 'likes'.
For example, your hoodie post has 31 likes (pretty good going and way higher than my average!). However behind-the-scenes I can see that more than 500 people checked it out!
Or, take your milky way deal which had 1 like. As you say, it can be a little disheartening. Again, behind-the-scenes though I can see that 17 people checked it out.
This isn't the same as 'likes', but is still interesting and feels good to know. Personally, I'd still feel good knowing that whilst a deal of mine may not have got "likes", some people have still found it helpful! I hope, perhaps next year, we can make some updates that share more information like this with everyone as it's really fun
Tom
Tom thank you, those hoodies are a great bargain though
I just wasnt sure if I was making my deals stand out enough. The lynx advent calendar got hardly any likes, then Emma edited it, and it eventually got over 200 likes.
I think you know that the points I have repeatedly raised are valid and obvious . I do note though that it seems several members who were abusing the site have been removed recently .
I still await your reply on my suggestion that only one deal , one like , one comment can be posted in a 30 minute period (rather like the current only one chat topic can be posted per hour ).
Members are totally abusing the site , as you must well know , it must be heartbreaking for you ,who have only the best of intentions .
I think I can claim to be a member who only posts great deals well explained (not to everyone's tastes granted ) , spending many minutes on doing so (not a 3 deals in a minute poster ) - but what's the point when my deals (explained in my own words , often with price comparisons ) disappear into the pages and pages of dross obviously non deals posted just for the points .
I could right now post 3 "deals " in the next minute . Click and paste an Amazon non deal and/or voucher deals - as so many hundreds of your members do on a daily basis to earn points !
I find it so annoying , while I will still post good deals I come across and explain them as always I no longer feel motivated to search out deals for the benefit of members . Lets be honest they just like for the points not the deal .
An obvious "spot" to me is when 3 deals /vouchers or both are posted by the same username within a minute , I do notice that some have stopped - but why not publicise that you are aware of the abuse of the site and taking action ?
Tom , maybe the business model works ? I doubt it with so many obvious deals /likes /comments etc purely for the points .
Give me an edit pen and I could immediately scrub 80% of all "deals" posted on here that are patently "non deals for points " . I'm sure all genuine members would agree.
Tom Food for thought... You keep saying you're after feedback and changing things but everything I've seen change since joining is functional improvements (that have been great Kelsey), not the quality of deals. One piece of direct feedback - I don't know if you personally pick the deals for that bulletin that comes up twice a day. However, on several occassions, I have found a better price for a product posted yet 'you' have put the more expensive option (usually on Amazon) in that bulletin. I also regularly see products on there that have been selected for entertainment value and dare I say the most affiliate clicks. It's not a personal quibble but more a source of frustration that people are ending up spending more than they need to. It still doesn't feel like this site's main aim is to save money. It feels more like a big marketing exercise. I and many others would like to see it thrive as a place to save decent amounts of money, not this week's Amazon link to buy Baylis & Harding hand soap. While you have that points system setup the way it's been at least since last year when I first looked at joining, all the problems highlighted by myself and others will remain.
Tom Iβm pretty new to LD but have been sharing deals regularly when I spot them and some have received quite a lot of βlikesβ and comments.
Iβd love to be able to see how many members proceeded to check out. That would be a great indicator of the type of deals worth posting in the future.
Hi Looked At Your Deals And They Seem To Do Very Well, I Am Always Amazed At What Deals Do Well
So If I See A Deal I Post It Regardless Of What It Is. Merry Christmas
There doesn't seem to be a way to work out what will be popular, things I have thought were great have been ignored, doubt if you are doing anything wrong JenxJen, you are doing well to get lots of likes for anything!
I've been really chuffed on 3 occasions recently when someone's also said something appreciative about my deals as well as 'liking'...it made me feel as tho I hadn't 'just' earned my points.
BORDERJOE yes I agree odd times when folk have said they will buy and save etc it does cheer you
Sarahvwomble yep.....motivates me to keep looking ... thos as i said... I like to earn the points too obviously.
Seems your post worked , you have some likes . Not sooper dooper deals ,but not dross ,granted . If I may say so none of your deals were described by yourself or a reason given for why they were great deals - as I always do .
But then again as no members ever read them or comment on them , why bother ? Just click and paste 3 rubbish deals , 300 points -job done !
I think itβs a matter of lucky timing sometimes. Posting a deal when others are posting loads at the same time means they can sometimes get lost within the new section and donβt build up enough likes for the popular one...
ScaredyCat I totally agree with you there. There's a few people that post a lot of deals aswell, where as our limit is 10.
Sarahvwomble oh really. I post 3 vouchers and 7 deals a day. They will soon tell you once you've become a sharing machine
Sarahvwomble 3 isn't a limit ,its just how many you get points for per day ! That's not the point though . I often post zero , sometimes 6 or 7 .
I think the site have finally realised that those who post 3 "deals" per day , 3 "vouchers " per day , a few likes and comments etc - every single day in a 2 minute period are basically taking the mick !
Maybe a few warnings have been issued ?
Sometimes it can depend on whether other people are looking for that particular item at the time you post it...
I find this site really useful and buy more deals than I like or comment on, which I genuinely like. I was a member for about 10 months before I posted any deals. Personally I only post deals I come across when I am shopping for something, although I do get a lot of spam emails for companies, which I've signed up to go get an initial saving, so do pass them on although normally find that someone has already posted them
So please keep posting
a super deal is only a super deal if someone is looking for that product at the time, and been looking for the best prices, so u have to ask your self, is your super deal as super as you think lol
A great deal is one that is cheaper than it has been before , the cheaper it is than previously the better deal it is .
Having said that it all depends on whether that deal is "Your thing" as to whether it is popular .
I have on the same day posted Taylormade Golf Driver for Β£250 (RRP Β£499 ) . a Bosch cordless mower for Β£219 (RRP Β£499 ) and a case of Stella for Β£8.98 (RRP Β£14 ) .
All great deals , fully explained and previous best prices illustrated .
One had 200 + likes . The others 2 had 3 or 4 likes each . Guess which one (arguably not the best deal) had the 200+ likes ?
Nobody ever claimed the number of "likes " denotes how good the deal actually is .
I wouldn't take it personally. If you want likes, just post some Baylis & Harding soap, face masks or pretty much anything on Amazon. I get the impression you're on here for genuine deals like myself though. I'm sure everything you posted has been useful for someone at some point
Dennab lol.. I totally get you with Baylis & Harding Soap, and masks, dont forget the toilet roll.
Dennab I've posted a few masks. I thought the kids mask were cute though. Looking for a loo roll bargain.
