Watching this lady on tv with her cheerful demeanour in the face of daily suffering, has often had me in tears. I had really hoped her positive attitude would see her through this terrible disease but she appears to be meeting her end the same way she lived through the last six years, with humour, truth, bravery and acceptance. May her life go on having meaning even when she is gone through the massive contribution she has made to awareness and charity.

Aenurse1 It's a big killer that we need to be brave and talk about. Poo isn't nice but if it saves your life then its certainly worth it. Love that she's now a dame! She deserves it.

Both my parents died from bowel cancer so her story touches me more so than others would as I can relate somewhat. I will have to have earlier check ups than typical for bowel cancer as my risk is now increased.

It's not glamorous but it is so important to be be aware of symptoms. My dad received a postal screening kit...didnt do it.... & his cancer outcome may have been completely different if he had. My mum also also ignored symptoms for a long time.

My father in law who also had bowel cancer his only symptom was mild pain after eating, he only mentioned it to dr in passing..long story short his cancer was caught early. A op & a few months of chemo & hes cancer free for 7 years now. Early detection is everything!

I don't think I know this lady but she sounds like a lovely beautiful person battling a very horrible disease. I try to donate to Bowel cancer UK on a monthly basis as I know how vague and ghastly bowel cancer can be.
