Des on ITV

How good was it. David Tennant was bloody awesome. Such a chilling portrayal. He deserves an award for that performance.

nicolajaynehend It’s about Dennis Nilsen, the 1980s serial killer. You’ll find it on the ITV hub x

I was the same, because the only 'Des' that comes straight to mind is Des O'Conner and it really didn't look like his life story from the quick glimpse I got of the advert for the show. Although with many tv presenters turning out to be rapists, paedophiles etc I don't suppose a serial killer is out of the question in the future.

I've not seen it yet but I have seen some clips from it and he gives such a chilling performance. These sorts of shows creep me out as they are based on true events and ot scares me to think people are actually capable of such things!

Did you know there are approx 16 serial killers at work at any time. Many get away with it.

Youre right it is scary to think that there are people cabable of this. I hope you never bump into one lol dont watch this. Itll scare the life out of you

dawarwick I think your chances are greatly reduced being a mature male. Although 'Des' preyed on young gay men I believe the majority of serial killer victims are female.

Lynibis wasn't just gay men. Drug addicts and homeless people mainly. A Canadian tourist. The only constant was young males.

I've just watched the first one and it is awesome. The way he is able to portray his psychopathic tendencies is amazing.

Yes Tennant was very good looked and sounded just like him, I didn't realise how much until I saw the documentary the day after, although the documentary (with real footage of Nilsen) didn't show Nilsen to be a mild mannered person who didn't appear threatening, in fact IMO quite the opposite.

Another thing; the TV film DES (and Nilsen's conviction for murder) was saying he wasn't MAD - but the detectives in the real footage seemed to say otherwise,

Also worth watching the documentary about Dennis Nilsen with real footage of his interviews. It’s uncanny how alike David Tennant is to Nilsen.

We watched all 3 episodes last night and I thought David Tennant was amazing! Even down to the accent, his real scottish accent sounds nothing like the Aberdeen accent he did during the programme, which was quite convincing. Very good casting for that programme!

Apparently ITV have had lots of complaints (1) Because the amount of smoking that was seen - well, it's how it was in the 1980s!! ... and, more bizarrely (2) How gorey the show was - he was a frickin' serial killer, he didn't play with kittens and puppies!!!!

Well we should make it look like serial killer is good career choice 🤔

I watched a film from 80s last night and commented about the amount of smoking

As others have said I think it works better as a binge watch . It's very well done, not too gory . Not sure I will read any of the books written through
