Dieting in Summer vs Winter

Ask a Question

Anyone else find it far easier to diet in the summer than the winter? I never want to eat salad in the winter because it’s too cold, I get cold when I start losing fat, Christmas is obviously a food fest, and it’s harder to get outside and exercise.. can’t wait for summer! I have 84 lbs to lose 😫

I don't find it matters what time of year it is for me. If it isn't nice enough to go outside then I exercise in the house instead, there are plenty of workout videos on YouTube and running around after a toddler keeps me pretty fit.

I just cut down on my portions of food in the winter, make sure there isn't loads of bad food in the house, buy less food to eat at Christmas time and wear layers to stay warm.

It is easier in summer as the weather is nicer and it is lighter for longer but it is still doable in the winter. We have a dog so are out in all weather, except when we are snowed in.

Yes I do. I'm struggling at the moment I don't want to go outside because it's so cold.

I would agree in winter your all covered up and comfort food is enticing, in summer it can be too hot to spend a lot of time in kitchen cooking

Does anyone else still have Christmas treats in their house? I try to ration ours while keeping an eye on use by dates. I like the nudge theory of dieting where you just make small changes like smaller portions, cake/alcohol only at weekends, walking for ten minutes whatever the weather, going upstairs to the loo each time.... Maybe a goal could be just not to gain anything over the Winter.

Absolutely. The nicer weather does mean you're no longer drawn to comfort foot and red wine lol

I can’t be bothered with diets am too much of a cake and bread person but luckily don’t put on a lot of weight. Looking at your profile picture you only look about size 8

Oh no, that photo was the end of 2019 (and I was a size 10 so good guess 🤣) but I got pregnant last year and put on 84lbs from being pregnant and breastfeeding after 😳

SarahBenne67061 the weather will start getting nicer soon little one should be about ready to walk if not already. Start taking nice long spring strolls nice big safe field and do some outdoor exercise little ones love it, play ball go to park etc. Yes cold weather makes you won’t to eat more but soon spring comes your appetite changes. I would love to firm my baby belly but sadly love cake to much but still a size 10-12 and happy that’s what counts

I find it’s easier to exercise in the winter, as you’d do anything to get your body temperature up, so you exercise for longer. It’s ok in the summer, but if it’s too hot or polluted (and you’re a runner), the conditions are less favourable
