Dirty Dancing Sequel

In the News

https://www.theguardian.com/film/2020/aug/07/dirty-dancing-sequel-jennifer-grey

It’s been 33 years, so I’m a bit surprised they’ve decided to do it now. I don’t expect it to be as good as the original, but I hope it will at least be watchable - as most sequels turn out to be disappointing

Are you looking forward to it?

Sad that they have to keep remaking films rather than relying on new, fresh ideas.

Yes, it’s like there is no originality in the film industry anymore. But that’s fine, as at least the streaming services, like Netflix, seem to be killing it with originality

Lol I know what you mean. I can’t even imagine anyone playing his role. He was one of a kind

hspexy Dirty Dancing is such a cult favourite. I'm shocked Jennifer is going anywhere near this tbh. It's a terrible idea.

Glitterandgold let’s hope they don’t ruin it, like they often do with films these days. It’s meant to be set in the 90s, so I’m wondering what music they’ll be using - boy bands keep popping into my mind!

My automatic reaction to this type of press release is this film is going to be terrible. Patrick Swayze absence will also be problematic. I wouldn't be surprised if John Travolta is involved. Possibly playing Johnny Castle's (Swayze) younger brother💃

Same here. Jennifer Grey is supposed to be in it, but she’s completely unrecognisable since she had her nose job, and I never really liked her. Swayze’s charm was what made the movie

Hopefully it will be better than Dirty Dancing: Havanna Nights. The idea behind it was good, but it was poorly executed.

Plus you can't have Dirty Dancing without Patrick Swayze.

I loved it when first released but must admit I have watched it a couple of times more over the years and wondered why I liked it. I am not a fan of old films, which it now is.

Many of these films are impossible to remake, unless they are set in the same era, because of all the technology they now have. Many older films would be over in 10 minutes if remade in the present where people are using mobiles, tablets etc.

I hate films without original cast. I really don't see it coming out that good might watch it out of curiosity

From what I read, I think this is a sequel to the original film, set in the 90’s, rather than a remake.

The music from the 60‘s and Patrick Swayze made the original for me.

No, I don't know if I will want to watch it. For whatever reason, I keep thinking of the Step Up franchise and that spoils it for me

I've been keeping my eye on this sequel for a while. It will be the forth dirty dancing film made so I am really looking forward to it. And I am buzzing that Jennifer is coming back for certain now

She’s not as recognisable since she had work done. I was so surprised that she did a cameo in Friends...when I read about it, I watched the episode and could not recognise her at all

hspexy I agree with you, I watched a movie a couple of years ago and she was the lead actress in it. I had no idea it was her until the credits rolled
