How to discern a good deal

Deals

How actually do you know for sure you are having a deal and not something made for sale?

Two reasons.

1) Less than the retail price.

2) It's a product worth buying at that value.

Fair comment Rockman, but how would you feel if you find the same product for much cheaper than you paid for it and it is exactly same thing?

ideal123 Yeah, that happens. I just accept it and move on.

Rockman One general rule of thumb I use is to look for a second opinion for the product I want to buy. This helps to reveal a wide price difference and at the same time reveal quality detail of the product. I will not say this is full proof you will not find the product cheaper but you can be reassured you have taken all reasonable steps to buying well.

ideal123 I'd agree with ya but the sort of stuff is usually that no one else is too interested so as such, I check the same product various online retailers and then go with the cheapest (while offering the better product/service).

Its always worth having a second opinion on any deal as all to often its not quite as good as they say. The usual trick of giving a pre-deal price way higher than anyone would actually pay. The daily deal sites Groupon/ Might deals etc often do this. Thats not to say they are not always good deals though. Before I go for any deal as a bare minimum I will check with Amazon as they sell pretty much anything.

I generally check other sellers of the same product to make sure that it actually is the best deal before I post anything. Occasionally this doesn't work out and someone else finds it at a better price than I did, but I've been able to find a few good ones by making sure I check elsewhere before I post anything.

Super stuff usually I tend to go savvy the moment I can certify I am in a good deal. The question I tend to ask is if there are deals to go along with it such as free delivery. I will checkout the cart to see the delivery cost. Sometimes what you think is a deal has hidden cost of delivery especially if you are buying from daily deal sites such as Groupon/ Might deals etc. Once I find any cost hidden in the delivery, I tend to go back to sites where delivery cost is less to check their delivery deals. If, I have-to buy another item to make a free delivery deal, the item must be about the cost of delivery to make it count as literarily free. So, discerning a deal in this context is simply not as easy as finding a cheaper product but improving the deal on the product with a combination of well informed decisions.

I always work out:- do i really need it? Is it worth that much? Sometimes if I'm not sure I think about it for a bit.

That is right, right question and very useful too '' do I really need it?'' if the answer is not '' most definitely’’ you might be throwing your money in the drain as opposed having a deal. Well thought MellonE.

I've lost track of how many times I've bought make-up I haven't used! Now I have a cuppa and think on it. 😃 I've got enough make-up to fill a small truck! Hehehe
