Have You Been to a DIY Store since....
Ask a Question
Has anyone been to any DIY Stores since they have reopened? How busy are they?
As far as I know you can only use them to click and collect, that is what is happening in my area.
B&Q & Homebase have reopened some of their stores but long queues to get in.
Best option if they have what you need is somewhere like Screwfix or Toolstation , C&C only .
I've used Wickes for click & collect (faster than it used to be going into the store!) and The Range (The Range stores are open, and have a small DIY/Hardware section).
I haven't (haven't been out since 2 days before lockdown) but my parents have been to B&Q. They left early and were in the carpark queuing to get in at 7.30am. Wasn't too bad at that time. They managed to get a few things but no sharp sand, no fence (and you can't order it either). Can't order me a shed. They were there mostly to try and get stuff for me as I don't drive. They did leave round the side of the wooden gate for me some bark and some mint seeds. Dad said it took 45 mins to queue and pay.
It's a bit hit and miss with the stores - some deliver but most of c&c. We need 5 fence panels which badly need replacing but, as it's a two man job, can't be delivered. (consider it essential because it's security)
No. They’re far too busy. I’ve been able to get DIY stuff online and in supermarkets so I don’t need to go to the likes of B&Q just yet
no. They are operating limited hours, so that creates long queues and crowds, which I don't fancy being part of
I don't understand the desperation to buy DIY products. These people queueing for hours need to take a long hard look at their life.
For many it'll be for repairs that need doing, during a time when they can't get, or don't want, tradesmen to do them, hence the DIY. For others this compulsory time at home is ideal to catch up on the decorating that never gets done, rather than waste the time. Personally I wouldn't queue right now, I prefer to keep away from other people as much as I can.
