Does Anyone Forage Wild Mushrooms?
Ask a Question
It’s something I’ve thought about doing for a while now, as I have woodlands nearby where there seems to be a lot of mushrooms growing, but I have never done it before, so was wondering if anyone could offer any advice?
they grow freely, so it’s a shame to let them go to waste
Hi hspexy has you know I live on a farm. And right now I've got mushrooms growing. I do make sure they are the right ones. It's a very short season. About 2 to 3 weeks. I love horse mushroom they are very tasty. I cook the mushroom for about 5mins wait until they are cold then freeze them. My mushrooms come up every year. Around about August to 1st week in September.
Hi nicolajaynehend thanks for the advice and recommendation I have perhaps only come across a handful of wild mushrooms, and the ones that look edible do look like the common field ones, although I’m still hesitant. It must be way nicer to have your own farm with your natural spoils you're very lucky
I would be afraid to pick the wrong mushrooms to be honest. How do you know which ones your allowed to eat?
It’s easiest when you watch others do it, and just follow, which is what I do with berries and fruit that grow wildly, as I haven’t a clue otherwise. I am almost 100% sure the mushrooms I’ve come across are field mushrooms...but there’s always that little bit of doubt, which comes from the city side of me
