Ask a Question

Other Half was going to buy something off internet and they asked for Bitcoin payment. Is it safe? What are your views?

What do you think of this?

Should have gone for it years ago, now it's probably not as profitable. Anyway, you're better off checking YouTube videos about it if he/she wants to invest money on it.

I was lucky enough to be given .35 of a bitcoin as a Christmas gift about 3/4 years ago. At the time, it was worth about £120 which was nice but I didn’t know how to cash it in or what to do with it. I started taking an interest about 18 months ago and at its highest went up to about £5100 and now around £2900 and it goes up and down quite quickly.

As for payment, depends what you are buying but would say PayPal or credit card offer much better protection as bitcoin is all digital and once you’ve pressed the button and sent, it’s gone and it’s not coming back so please be super careful if it’s something you’re not familiar with 🙂

Thanks emmabeckz The Company (abroad) wanted payment either in bitcoin or Bank Transfer neither of which he was happy with so he decided to get the item from another company (UK).

lilyflower it does sound a bit dodgy - sounds like you went for the best option anyway 🙂

As others have said, I wish I'd bought some when they were relatively new, I'd be living in a solid gold house by now.

Thanks PhilipMarc emmabeckz mazza2112 blacklabrador Imnotcheap He's paid more for the item he wanted but thought it more prudent. The original site that asked for bitcoin payment didn't give an exact amount the alternative was Bank Transfer, neither sounded good. He has no desire to invest in them - (he's got no spare cash).
