Does Anyone Make Money via Air BnB?
Ask a Question
I’ve only heard horror stories from people who have done, and they’ve vowed never to do it again
My mother in law always stays at the same Airbnb when she visits us. The woman who runs it is lovely and treats her really well. My mil is only there to sleep, shower and have breakfast, so she is a perfect guest! She once stayed at a different Airbnb and it was a nightmare. There was no lock on the communal bathroom door, which didn't close properly either, the house was dirty, her bedding wasn't clean. We complained to Airbnb and the owner tried to argue that my mil had cause her issues, my mil didn't even stay one night! We got a refund but she claimed we shouldn't have as she lost money by taking the day off work so she could be in for my mil arriving, which wasn't true as her daughter was home from college and the owner wasn't there!
Our friend does airbnb but he has never had any problem guests.
Wow that sounds like it was horrid, which is a shame as if she only had pleasant experiences previously, it all gets impacted by that one horrid experience. I really like the concept of it, but as always, some people just can’t be trusted
hspexy she had never had a problem before that. It was my father in law who booked it as it was cheaper than her usual place, he soon regretted that! My husband went to pick her up to bring her over for dinner and took one look at the place and told her she wasn't staying there and then phoned his step dad and told him that she was staying in her usual place from now on no matter how much more it costs him!
We looked at airbnb recently for staying in Glasgow and we found a nice flat for all of us which wasn't too expensive and near the hospital. We requested to book it only for the owner to tell us her current occupants were extending their stay. It had taken us ages to find the place and we weren't impressed. She wanted us to cancel the request so there wouldn't be a decline on her account. We refused and made her decline and told her she shouldn't have advertised it if she knew it wasn't available.
Airbnb is good but it does have its issues.
