How Does Everyone Feel about the Lockdown Easing?
Ask a Question
How is everyone feeling about the lockdown measures easing? Do you think itβs the right time or too soon?
I do wish something could be done to make the date of the opening posting more prominent, Here we are 3rd March 2021 - with people not noticing the easing of the lockdown referred to was the first one LAST YEAR. (about nine months ago)
Anyone who doesn't believe in the resurrection should visit this chat forum.
(Susan - please excuse me using your opening comment to try to bring this to the attention of others - it seemed the only way).
To me it's to soon. We have summer coming and that's when it can spreads again. All so I can this autumn there will be another lock down and this time it's going to be a lot worse then this one. I am really worried about this has I have health issue has well. I've not been out now for just over 11 weeks. And I am not looking to go out. Happy wear I am. On a farm away from ever one got my animals but thats just me not ever one is like me. I am happy with what I got. And I very luck I have no one that lives near by from me. My neasrest person is about 5 miles away from.
Given your situation Nicola, you would appear to be safe so the easing shouldn't affect you. Put a big KEEP AWAY sign up on your gate lol.
Lynibis I've got a sign going up the end of the week. But I am all so very lucky my drive way is half mile long. And I don't get many people coming up. But I've got the sign going up just on the off chance that some one might came up. But thank you for your help.
Think it's about time after almost 10 weeks , got to start getting back to some form of normality at some point. The way I see it is the economy is suffering and in twelve months time , there will be problems with unemployment, people will be in debt and we'll be getting told there no money for Schools , for the NHS , for the Police, for Transport initiatives etc . Many people are also suffering other forms of illness such as anxiety , mental illness & loneliness not helped by this isolation of lockdown. Cancer, Heart problems , Joint replacements etc treatments are all on hold, surely they deserve to be treated. There has been Tunnel vision on this virus from the start, everything else has been put on hold.
I think it's time too. We can't stay on pause forever. I really feel that if people remain cautious, follow distancing as much as humanly possible & isolate at the first sign of infection we can avoid a second wave. We have to think of our futures too. I really fear for all the people going undiagnosed or suffering worsening symptoms/pain. Iv had my own health investigations put on hold due to lockdown, that's left me poorly & in alot of pain. Iv finally heard this week I have a scan next Monday.(I'm in England) I hope your son gets his surgery & equipment ASAP
RegularComper90 And here we are again a few months later. It appears someone didn't like my attempt to bring the attention of others to the FACT that the lockdown referred to isn't the current one. You seem to have got away with it though.
I thought my attempt to draw attention to it (up above and near the end) was quite ingenious, and inoffensive. he's probably green with envy that he didn't think of it.
I think that it is too soon. I think that there will be a 2nd wave and a 2nd lockdown. Yes we need to get back to some form of normality but it is too much too soon in my opinion. Even once lockdown has eased I will still be following the stay at home advice.
Hi Mrscraig I am with you on this one. I to think it's for to early. And with the hot weather coming it will spread fast. I am very worry because I have health issues. Like you I know is going to came back and worse. I shall carry on with lock down.
nicolajaynehend the hot weather will definitely make it spread further as people will take more chances visiting parks, beaches etc and social distancing will only be able to be maintained as there will be too many people! I don't have health issues but I am being cautious due to my son, he is still on medication for his lungs after his heart operation so don't want to take any chances! Stay safe and look after yourself
MrsCraig hope your son is fine. You are doing right by staying home. It's a lot safer. You and your family stay safe and well. Hear in Scotland we will know this Thursday what's going to start happening. And this is worring me. Has I live on my own.
nicolajaynehend my son is doing really well thanks! I am also worried about what will be said on Thursday about here in Scotland.
We haven't got a clue what's happening here in Wales, the government don't know their arse from their elbow.
Too soon, with the slightest easing of restrictions we've seen people flogging to beaches etc and clearly not social distancing, going round each others houses etc. And lets not forget that this is still while hundreds of people are dying every day, we're not anywhere near clear or safe yet.
No its not safe to ease restrictions - BUT - will it ever be ?
There's a lot of science and medical models going into this to keep the virus under control and we have to get the country going again - both socially and to get the economy going again - can't stay locked down forever and the country has to start earning money -next year will be too late .
Love the way Matt Hancock believes we will all comply ! Just hope the calculations factor in that while 85% of the nation will comply , the Underclass will still carry on acting as the despicable scum bags they are .
Caz2 You really don't understand the phrase "underclass " do you ? Please educate yourself .
I'll give you some clues
Spitting at police and ambulance workers
Draining canals for a laugh
Illegal gatherings of 50 + drunks
etc ,etc
All examples of the behaviour of the "underclass" and all on the BBC news feed in the last 3 hours .
You really should take an interest in what the minority of our fellow citizens are doing ? Then tell me that they deserve another name .
Golfforall i know what some are doing, but idiots is a better name for them. Underclass has a different meaning, its not just for these badly behaved louts.
Golfforall Iv read your posts & winced everytime you've (often) used the term 'The Underclass' I actually agree with your strong opinions on the people breaking the rules, Caz2 is correct to point out theres more apt names you could use. Underclass has a certain connotation that is often used towards the poor working class. But you know that....
Glitterandgold I cannot see why you should unless you still believe in the historic class system and perceive the "Underclass " as being somehow below working class ?
Working , Middle and Upper class no longer exist and haven't since the 1960s .
Maybe you have the opinion that those out of work and are on benefits are the underclass ? Totally wrong and a very bad perception in my view . In my view those people would rightly look down on the underclass as we all should .
The underclass nevertheless are a significant minority in our society . Some may call them Yobs ,Louts , Scum , Selfish , Dysfunctional and many not so polite words !
They are not defined by job or wealth (or lack of ) they are defined by their values (lack of ) and their actions .
They are on the news every hour - Maybe you prefer to call the drunken gatherings louts ? Or those who spit on Ambulance workers as thugs ? Those who drain canals as vandals ? etc etc .
Sorry but to me they are all the Underclass and should be to everyone -no excuses !
Lets face it if the class system still existed - no other class would have them !
Stop wincing and realise what the word "Underclass" means today - and save yourself a few nouns and adjectives in the process .
Golfforall Because that is still the known term for 'underclass' - BUT WHAT YOU MEAN IS THE THUGS,AND LAYABOUTS, ETC WHO BEHAVE LIKE THE WAY YOU DESCRIBE- Thats NOT the underclass- its just YOBS! They are a different species.(some refer to 'CHAVS' in same way) stop arguing with us..you're a snob. You look down on everyone you believe are below you..Dont deny it.
Caz2 You can pick your words (which I agree with) I'll pick mine which encompasses all the descriptions you mention and so saves on adjectives and nouns . We all know the low lifes we are speaking of ?
If you really still believe in the long dead class system then I suggest you are well behind the times .
I do not understand why we got locked down if we can not keep it up till the end of it...there was no point of it...just flattening the curve, which not really changed since easing...because the numbers are the same, so the r should be the same...
And it is easy to open everything and put track and trace in, but if one infected wonder into a store, all the staff needs to isolate for 14 days....nonsense....no one going to do that. I think the app will make people fear, because they will see the infected around...and I do not want to live in fear.
I believe everyone should be tested and no one should be out who has the virus and infect...
No point in testing everyone unless they are showing symptoms . As you well know you can test clear one day (but still have the virus ) and have the full blown symptoms a couple of days later . Only then will a test work .
Unless we all can be tested daily (impossible ) this is about the best we can do .
Of course the best way to stop the spread is to use your brain !
Don't hang around close to anyone (even friends and family ) for more than a few minutes then retire to 4 or 5 metres . Treat everyone (including yourself ) as infected and act accordingly .
This thing is going to be with us for years - get used to the new normal .
The scientists keep saying everyday that the 'R' is still very close to 1- so why are they easing the bloody lockdown then, like they are?? They aren't following the scientists any more, they're doing what cummings wants if you ask me.Also they realise how much the furlough bill is going to be.
Golfforall we should test everyone and the test should be available everywhere, because some people have no symptoms at all and kids also not get sick from it, but transfer it to others. If it mutates again to something else the vaccine will not work. Everyone could isolate that amount of days....which is like 3 to 7...than the healthy could go out and the sick could isolate...but it only works if people follow rules or forced to do it.
I use my brain, but no one can do anything about my neighbors partying every night.
Police is nowhere to fine them....and they also left before Christmas and came back after which was not allowed by rules.
Caz2 they did not follow them from the beginning. The PM did not read the 1st report on the virus which was in February. Since they still not decided to follow what WHO said.
Golfforall And it's only nine months later that some are realising that your "This thing is going to be with us for years" is more than likely. I don't remember from personal experience but was told that back in 1914 that most thought that what became known as The Great War (WW1) would all be over by Christmas. They weren't thinking it was "all that great" several years later.
Too soon for me personally but I do understand the need to start slowly building back to normal. I think just for my own mental health I'll stay away from shops until I feel comfortable with whatever precautions are put in place.
I agree with a gradual toning down of restrictions. It's not really feasible to remain in lockdown limbo until a cure is found, which may not be any time soon.
Having seen today's bbc update i feel Boris has only agreed to "meetings of families of up to 6" just to accomodate any more of Cummings bloody family trips without us complaining, oh and so Boris & his missus can show off the new baby to their own families.
Golfforall not irrelevant.Boris cant control everyone anymore, not even his own people.
Too soon 300+ dead today again !! That's 300 families a day devastated and people are moaning about not being able to go to Benidorm !!
Too soon but it's going to happen eventually. With no vaccine for awhile how long can you stay in lockdown, just not feasible I'd think
I think itβs happening too quickly. The cynical side of me says itβs driven by panic ver the sudden realisation of how much money theyβve borrowed and been throwing at things, so have to get the economy up and running, whatever the cost. A second round of Covid is almost a given, when you see the complacency of people.
All I have been hearing for weeks is grandparents longing to hug their grandkids .
Physical contact still not allowed , obviously , but are all aware of that ? How about the generation who get their news off Facebook ? Or those who don't abide by any rules ?
OK its safe to meet your extended family at last as long as you strictly observe the 2 metre distancing . My worry is that many won't and we will see another spike in infections .
Its sad but true that many grand kids will be unintentionally infecting their grandparents next week and in the future .
It should be widely publicised again and again that physical contact , even fleeting , could be exceedingly dangerous .
Track and trace should nail down these mini infection spikes quickly - but not before many elderly folk are infected .
Please be sensible and ultra cautious , we know the virus can be passed on by people (including children ) with no symptoms .
The rate we are going, Good and bad, People still need to realise the virus is still there.
Well Boris was happily saying yesterday we can have bbq's, use the families toilets, pass through their house to get to back gardens, etc etc....while the science geek looked panic-stricken and tried to explain "but we must clean & disinfect everything if we do that".....
