Does This Seem Dodgy?

So I've just listed something for sale on Gumtree, within 2 minutes of listing I get a message saying "email condition & price to (EMAIL ADDRESS) she's my mother and she's interested" ...there's no Hello, still available etc..literally that's all the message says. Does it seem a little odd or is it just me? Don't want to email someone incase it's one of those scam email thingys

This is very common on gumtree yes it’s a scam ask them to only message you though gumtree for protection and you won’t get another reply from that person. You most probably get sane message different email just say same
Thanks Ann1984 - I knew my gut was right! I'd listed condition & price etc on the ad so it just seemed odd.
I used to sell alot on gumtree but haven't for a while.
PinkElephant26 I get it all time and I will post to a lot of people but again I say no PayPal I don’t have so bank transfer because again people will buy but open PayPal dispute
Ann1984 I've just asked "uncle google" and more or less confirmed its a scam. I've just messaged back "sorry, all correspondence must be done through gumtree"...no reply to that.

List on Gumtree and I can't believe you can think any offer is "real" . Just don't get how this site is still used and not banned . I appreciate Ebay can be an expensive way of selling , but Gumtree . I'd rather chuck unwanted stuff in the bin 
Golfforall I have had lots of genuine buyers in the past from gumtree, I think maybe 2/3 that haven't been but just ignored those. After googling gumtree scams it does seem there are more nowadays and from what I read gumtree do naff all about them.
I haven't listed on Ebay as like you say there's fees and the item I have listed is a pram/travel system so it would need a courier to collect as its a very big heavy item. I don't have Facebook so can't list it on there.
PinkElephant26 put it on shpock I sold my sister pram on there didn't have any problems

I've used shpock lots in the past too and had no problems.
PinkElephant26 Never used it myself . But from reading reviews /comments my now built in reaction is con /scam. Maybe not the site itself but from it's users (both buyers and sellers !) .
All I can say is be very , very cautious and suspicious (as you obviously are being )
Golfforall when I sold stuff on it I didn't give my address told them to meet me out this coffee shop near me and I had someone with me aswel so I had no issues
