I Am Being Driven Mad By A Certain TV Advert So I Have 2 Questions For You

Ask a Question

I am being driven to distraction, if that's the saying, by the TV Advert 'I like your new room Granddad, can my dolls house have one?' so I wondered, what TV Advert do you find the most annoying and do you think a cap should be put on how many times each advert is shown?

The Go Compare was high on the list then the Cillit Bang one (the guy with the gummy saliva-mouth 🀒 ) I tend to record progs on the ad channels and skip forward, missing most of the adverts. Yes, there should be a limit on showings.

Ohhh and that sweet one where the adults speak like children, I've noticed they're using more babies talking like adults too, I know adverts are meant to be memorable but not downright annoying 🀣 πŸ˜‰ x

JoTarpley Forgot that one, Jo. The first one was hilarious but they should've stopped at that one because nothing was ever as funny.

angemski Yes that's right, they seem to think 'Aha! We've hit on a winning formula here, we'll do it again' trouble is then they overdo it and wear things out!! x

I hate adverts that take you for an idiot and are annoying but they won't ever limit them as it is all about money. The more they pay the longer the ad, the more often it is shown and in the best programmes.

Yes that's right Lynibis and some of them must cost a small fortune as we all know advertising isn't cheap at the best of times! x

I don't like the Alexa one that's on at the moment.

If I was living next to a kid who was kicking a ball at the wall at 4:30am with the back garden floodlight on, I'd be tamping.

Ola cab ads are among the worst and because of them, I'll never use their service. I prefer Uber, either way.

That's correct Philip never (unless unavoidable) buy the products or use the services of any company whose adverts annoy you. Also realise that it's the consumer who pays for the adverts via inflated prices.

I dislike those that bend the truth, especially the one for TalkTalk broadband, which says "No increase to BROADBAND price mid-contract". What they say is true but what they don't say is that although they won't increase the price of broadband mid-contract they can and have, and probably will again, start charging for things that were included in the broadband package when the contract began.

davidstockport Got done with Sky with that kind of scam. Broadband was fixed for 18 months, but my calls package was increased by Β£2 within 6 weeks of joining.

JoTarpley My two year contract started at Β£25 a month, If I'd gone along with their price rises (I refused to pay for the things they started charging for and made different arrangements)I'd now be paying over Β£40 they wouldn't release me from the contract even though I've proof of what I was promised.

It's all you can expect from a company whose founder (Charles Dunstone) employed a convicted fraudster (Ernest Saunders), for business advice, when starting Carphone Warehouse. He's getting his moneysworth it's a pity his customers don't.

My jack russell hates the current churchill advert with the dog on a skateboard. He goes ballistic everytime it comes on. He now recognizes the intro music & comes running into the room like a loon whenever he hears it.

Not changing subject (I hope) but I was so annoyed by ITV insisting I disabled ad-blocker to watch their programmes on catch up on lap-top, that I boycotted any products advertised. I now watch on NOW TV I still get the adverts but not as many. That's a bit annoying they're sometimes not long enough to get myself a drink.☺

Yes I've found that David, you used to be able to nip to the loo or get a drink in the ad break, now I'm not sure how many I'm going to get, sometimes I'll just get one or 2 short ones another time I've only just got my foot out the door and the programme's back 🀣 x

I get annoyed by adverts with celebs promoting something. As if Phillip Schofield uses We buy any car, also the amount of celebs using pantene and head & shoulders with their supermodel hair. Their getting told what to say and paid for it - same as all the paid partnerships on instagram with celebs promoting things. I buy things based on reviews from family and friends or trying it myself but i see how some people can get sucked in.

Same as my KirsteyJames , if a 'Celeb' is promoting it I don't even consider it, I know they have zero interest in the product, have probably never used it and only do it for the money, what type of recommendation is that and as if Phillip Schofield would ever use 'We buy any Car' with their low rates, I don't think so!!! We are all being conned by 'the suits'! x x

KirsteyJames I agree! Why would the makers think that a celeb is going to influence my decision? The only thought these ads leave me with is 'don't they make enough money?'

This advert is just so bad it's funny but I still zip through it. Carol Vorderman fronts a campaign for equity release and someone had the great idea of multiple cameras where she has to keep moving her head to read at different angles. It's like the Ant and Dec left-to-right with piece that they do.

Oh I know the one you mean, will have to try to remember what it is, seems more childish than attention grabbing, not very imaginative is it Caz2 I like ones that make me think, 'isn't that clever' but there don't seem to be many now, anything computer generated just leaves me cold as anybody can do that! πŸ™„x

The current one is for Cazoo where you can buy a used car and have it delivered without moving from your sofa. The woman driving whilst saying Cazoooooooooooooooooooooo interminably drives me nuts. The sound is bad enough but the sight of all that hair, like an explosion in a spring factory, makes it doubly so.
