Driver Jailed for Running Friend over 'As a Joke' and Leaving Him Paralysed

In what universe is pretending to run someone over funny ?
The driver who was 44 and had two children in the back of his car, swerved and lost control, he hit his friend. He said his breaks failed, but there was no evidence to support this.
This friend who is 27, is now a quadriplegic who had to move into a care home as he requires 24/7 support.
The sentence was 1 year 10 months imprisonment and a 2 year driving ban.
Considering the damage he's done, he deserved a much longer sentence than 1 year and 10 months.
That was my thinking, what deterrent is is and only a 2 year driving ban. An absolute joke !
beccatavender Reading the victim's statement in the article was so sad, it must be so hard for people like him to see the ones responsible getting off so lightly.
What a joke. People these days can run over others, kill, rape, etc and they still get a small sentence than spend their miserable life in prison.
Sad that the death penalty has been outlawed in many countries (while in an Asian country I forget which one specifically, a person with possession of drugs is put through death penalty and that, IMO, is excessive, sometimes they're innocent).
People need to realise cars are not toys you would think a 44 you would have grasped that
Because it was a joke gone wrong people jump on to cars so they can put a claim in its one of them feel for the lad tho
Blimey that’s not a joke! Who in their right mind would steer the car at a friend with your own children in the back?
What the hell, anyone who thinks running some over is a joke needs their license taking away.
