Dry Jan
Ask a Question
anyone else giving up alcohol for january? me and my brother have challenged each other - who's with us?
Excellent idea and I really hope you do it!!
I've been T-total for 6.5yrs now so I'm doing pretty well too hahaha
wow thats amazing can I ask why you have remained t total if thats not too personal a question? well done
Sorry but my birthday is in January so I never seem to manage it. Maybe one year I might try it
hahaha well I guess you could try a dry feb after all the celebrating is done birthdays are for being spoiled have a lovely one
Not me. At most, I usually only drink alcohol a few times a month and I don't drink excessively. If people are drinking heavily for the other 11 months, then stopping for one month isn't going to make much difference.
hmm I only half agree. I dont drink what would be considered heavily neither does my brother but he does have a beer at least every over day plus maybe 3 over the weekend but its empty calories plus all the other associated health implications so we are going for it. And to say a month of curbing a bad habit is not beneficial seems shortshited- sorry. It is a break a chance to take stress off the body, liver etc and allows for the chance to make more permanent change which I think is great
Not for me, thanks. I know people who do a dry Jan to recover from the festive period. Surprisingly I didnβt have much to drink this year, so no recovery needed
No. It's my bday next week so il be drinking then as going out for a meal with OH. Then I'm out following weekend with friend for my bday celebration. Expect il have a canny few drinks then . Iv hardly drank over xmas tho so I'm allowed!
No don't drink a lot anyway and don't agree with these new year fads, they rarely last. Rather than cut something out altogether I think a better idea is to just cut back on whatever.
well as they say every journey starts with the first step.....good luck feel free to check in and let me know how youre getting on
Well done you! It's so much better to have a sibling challenge - rivalry overload. I won't be joining you though. I had a nasty virus leading up to Christmas that totally wiped out my birthday on the 21st so I am determined to celebrate in a week or so, when things quieten down.
glad youre feeling better and enjoy the belated celebrations.....and yes lots of sib rivalry its keeping me focused hahhaha
I've challenged my partner to dry January. I'm really proud of him as he normally has a drink after work
SusanEaston327 thank you im feeling positive although I have had to avoid a few alcohol deals on here already
No sorry, I do sometimes go weeks without drinking then go out and drink a lot. Im not a nig drinker but couldn't give it up. Good luck!
thank you KirstyW you sound like me really but I have noticed ive started having a drink again with meals - dinner not breakfast! Dont tell him but im doing it for my Bro really
OneeyedRaven haha your secret is safe. Doesn't do any harm to do it. Hopefully this month doesn't drag like it usually does
No dry January for me. I've still got half a bottle of vodka left from Christmas. I'll be finishing it off soon enough.
