How Early is Too Early to Start Buying Christmas Gifts for the Same Year?

Ask a Question

Who at you?

Friend A

Friend B

or basically ME?

I have 2 best friends, they are also best friends so we have our little group of 3 😁we catch up as often as we can but just The same as most we have busy lives including partners & children etc, but always at least once a month! So when we met up in June, Friend A was absolutely astonished that Friend B had not only started buying Xmas gifts for this year but also has them wrapped, bowed and labelled! In actual fact, probably shouldn‘t have but I found it quite amusing how Friend A got onto her about it. Luckily with the friendship we have it’s like water off a ducks back So all is good 😁👍

I just wanted to know ur opinions on this! When do u personally think it’s too early/late to start Christmas shopping for the same year? When do u, urself start? Are u like Friend B organised and ready at the half way point, are u like Friend B who starts about October, November time or are you like me who’s always running around like a headless chicken at the last minute, promise yourself your not doing it again and the following year will be more organised but actually you do do it again and make the same promise??

I don't wrap stuff until December, but I buy throughout the year.

I've mostly finished for this year already, and because I'm always on the look out for things, sometimes I buy when I don't need it - so I have a start on 2020 too!

I dont wrap them until december either but i will pick things up through the year. Only if i see something at a really good price i know someone would like or if i see a biggish present for my kids. Ive had a few toys for my daughter that ive seen reduced but she doesnt need them now so i put them away for xmas. I had a load of stuff for my son on amazon prime day.

Last year, i found a perfect present for my partner on sale in August and thought “its far too early to start xmas shopping, i’ll wait until nearer the time“... my september, it was discontinued everywhere. I had to buy an alternative that was £40 more expensive... so this year, i said whenever i see a gift i like for anyone, im going to buy it and keep it for xmas. I’ve just bought his main present for this year because it was being clearanced and was already out of stock in his size in most places.. wouldnt wrap them until december though because it makes me feel festive and i like to see what i’ve got..

Don’t know about anyone else but I absolutely hate having to sit and wrap presents for a couple of hours so much so that last Xmas my friend across the road from me told me to take the presents for my then 16yr girl and then 7yr boy over to hers as I got them and she would do it for me and do it she certainly did and I am eternally grateful to her! Lol. I just can never get into the festive spirit at all anymore. For me, once the kids have opened their prezzies on Xmas morning now it’s jut another day 🙄 a bloody expensive one at that!

I like to buy stuff throughout the year as it is cheaper that way plus I don't have to worry about it in Christmas. I do the wrapping or gift bag in December.

I started to buy toys for my daughter. The deals are better currently and the prices will rise before Christmas.

Also have a list of books what I would love to get for her and still have months to do so.

I due in December, so I will be so busy with baby number 2. I need to have all the presents done in November.
