Do You Encourage Wildlife to Your Garden?

Ask a Question

I have a variety of bird boxes scattered around my fences and also a butterfly box. Every night a fox and a badger visit one of my neighbours down the road. What do you do?

I have a couple of overgrown corners, always leave birdfood out and scraps etc and have a couple of water bowls too, hedgehogs use that aswell as the birds

I have bird boxes so always have nests every year, feeders and water baths. budddleia bushes,so i get lots of butterflies and lots of tress, bushes and flowers that attract all sorts of insects. We have a lot of frogs that live in the bushes. My grandson loves filling the feeders and watching the birds come down to feed.

we occasionally get hedgehogs, squirrels and foxes in the garden.

A lady down the road has Muntjac Deer using her garden as a cut through, but we've not been lucky enough to have them visit us yet.

We put out bird food but it is a constant battle to stop the crows from stealing the feeders!

We have hedgehogs and rabbits and we put out water for them in warm weather, but otherwise leave them to their own devices!

I have bird feeders and waterbowls etc and leave the grass grow long for while too for butterflies and bees etc before cutting back I have blackberry bushes growning at back garden so only give them a trim now and again but otherwise I try and encourage wildlife.

We have a multitude of birds in our garden but then we do spend a lot on better bird food. Last night we had a woodpecker on our fat balls, he was there for quite a long time, sometimes pecking sometimes not, just resting, then pecking again when he was ready to carry on. We have several frogs, some very tiny and are not sure where they come from as we have no pond?! But we do live all the wildlife, especially as we have stopped the rabbits decimating our vegetable plot! 🐞

I don't encourage wildlife purely because we have a dog and 2 pigeons have had near fatal misses with her and she has tried to go for a hedgehog and a bumblebee!

My cat caught a squirrel the other day, that was great fun trying to rescue the squirrel. We did manage although as the squirrel ran off he did not look in the best of health.
