Just watching gmb and they are dojng a report on hospital care. They have said this.
Nurses across the UK say they have been forced to provide end-of-life care in hospital corridors and other unsuitable spaces- including, in one case, on a bathroom floor.
Marie Curie found more than half of nurses surveyed had delivered palliative care in makeshift spaces, leaving some patients facing distressing and undignified deaths.
This is awful if you ask me. It's really not acceptable. I feel for those in hospital both those on the ground floor and those as patients. I don't feel for management though
As a person who has delivered palliative care many, many times, I find it shocking that not enough thought is given to this most important part of an individuals life.
Although end of life care might be a small part of a life that has otherwise been well lived, time and time again I've heard from relatives that these closing moments are the ones which stay in their minds, and knowing that their loved one was treated kindly and with dignity was a major part of them being able to deal with their grief.
Sadly, the dying aren't able to tick a box to say that they were happy with their treatment after their stay.

It's disgusting and shouldn't be happening at all but I have to say some of the Marie curie ain't the best either going off own experience
Disgraceful how often people at end of life are disregarded. Incredibly sad to think of people facing distressing and undignified deaths, but this is nothing new in this 'first world' country.
If there weren't so many people in the country our services wouldn't be so stretched. Doctors and nurses at refugee camps are apparently on call at extremely short notice and based on site. Pity those of us that pay for it can't get it.
It does happen and I agree with you that it is awful, unfortunately I'm not sure what the answer is. If there isn't enough beds on a given day I really don't know what the nurses and doctors in A&E can do. Of course the bigger problem is that fat cats are creaming off the NHS in loads of different ways, whether that's through giving them friends the NHS contracts in exchange for backhanders or there being far too many highly paid managers, at the expense of providing better care on the wards. Nothing will change though, I think in all likelihood it will just get worse until they say that we can't have free healthcare and all have to pay health insurance like the USA.
Hospitals are so stretched right now and doctors/nurses are working ridiculous hours which is why the care isn't as good as it could be. Nobody should be seen or left in corridors and especially those at the end of their life, it's awful! Recently when I went to the hospital, everywhere in A&E was lined with beds and the majority were elderly. There was no privacy for them or care (not always the staff's fault).
