So the Eurovision kicks off tonight with the first of the semi finals
Ukrainian favourite to win, though for a change England is 3rd favourite
Will you be watching on Saturday ?
I used to be a real fan but in recent years it has turned so political it just wasn’t fair. Loved it when Terry Wogan presented it.
eyeballkerry oh yes terry wogan loved him . Loved it when Ireland used to win 
Aenurse1 I think the best win for me was Brotherhood of man then Bucks Fizz. I went to see Brotherhood man a few years ago and still the same line up, amazing.
eyeballkerry yeah, virtue signaling and politics in general ruined it.
When Eurovision wasn't garbage:

My husband and I like Eurovision. Our son watches it too but only pays attention to the songs he likes. We don't watch any of the semi finals, only the main show.
Oh God, thing's back? Is Australia and Brazil part of Eurovision this time around? 
The 2018 version wasn't even a European country that won (although in soccer games they place Israel in "Europe").
It’s a monumental waste of money and an outdated institution. It’s lost it’s way over many years. I won’t be watching.
In a weird way .Yes.Albeit as so many people rightly say it is more than politicised.I loved Terry Wogan as well.
Can't stand Eurovision and haven't watched it for years. That's not to say I don't want us to win though.
The main event is on tonight! I will watch it tomorrow morning as I will be putting my son to bed when it is on so will miss some of it. I haven't heard any of the songs for this year yet, so will all be new to me.
I've just watched it and I'm shocked that we came second in it don't think I've ever seen that lol
I think you either love it or hate it. I'm not a fan and haven't watch it for years, I think Terry Wigan was still presenting. In my opinion the voting became political and not about the music.
I can't remember us ever doing so well in the euro vision, were normally at the bottom, I'm shocked.
Midnightflower I'm more surprised people are actually watching it. I had forgotten this existed until I read this thread. 
PhilipMarc I'd love to know why we did better this year? I stopped watching it years ago as we always lost!
Just read Ukraine won the contest. Something tells me it was yet again another political motivated decision (like in 2018 – there's no logical reason that horrible song should've won).
But hey...
PhilipMarc No it wasn't political, it was a sympathy vote Philip, but we came 2nd, which means otherwise we would have won!

Call it "sympathy," it's still about political tactics in its true form, that much is obvious.

What was with all the ballads? pure garbage, Moldova was what the Eurovision should be about.
