Even Better Pricing

Ask a Question

What happens if you go to get a deal, and the price is even lower! I commented on a couple of posts where the price had bern reduced, but I've no idea if admin need to change a price, or the OP should change it, or if it should be posted as a new deal? Posting as a new deal seems a little backhanded, so is there a way to get the price changed - is it down to commenting so the OP can change it, or do admin need to do this? I wouldnt want to 'poach' someones shared deal by reporting with a cheaper price. What is the etiquette in this instance?

It's strange that you ask this as I was faced with a similar dilemma last week (on my own deal) I had some time before posted a deal £16.99 reduced to £12 on a garden storage trunk - I became aware that there'd been another reduction to £5 a MASSIVE BARGAIN. I realised if I just changed the price few people would see it - my solution (not for the points) was to expire the old one and repost the lower price.

Some time back I posted a deal for glue sticks then was informed by someone that a different brand was available for much less on ebay - I politely suggested he should post the deal, I waited a reasonable time - he didn't - so I did.

I agree it doesn't seem right to post a better price you find from someone else's deal- my way would be to notify the poster of the lower price by commenting, then if they don't want to do anything about it, perhaps post it myself.

I must be honest I don't know the exact correct procedures (if there are any) but believe if you do what you think is fair you won't go far wrong.

We need a way to "refresh" deals. I see it a lot, normally when a deal goes into moderation it seems, but at need a way to do it manually if something big changes like it unexpires or price changes.

I usually just comment on their post to tell them the price is lower. If they posted more than a month ago then i may post the deal myself depending on what it is (some things i think many people wouldnt be interested in)

Funny but since I wrote the above I found a deal I posted a few months ago had a further deduction (£25 to £9.99 now £6) so as I suspect many would be interested I posted it again.

Definitely comment and let them know, so they can adjust it, if it's a recent deal. Don't steal the deal by posting again.

If it's been a little while (even a couple of days) and it's cheaper, I think it's fine to post again at the cheaper price, for exposure (people may miss the price reduction on the old deal).

But then if you're the original poster of the more expensive deal, don't see the new cheaper version posted and edit your deal to the new price, and report the new one - that's not nice. I've had a few people do that to me, even when their deal was fairly old!
