Pulled a sickie to get the day off at work or some kind of event that you should have been at ??
I haven't pulled a sickie for work
But back in the days.. me and my friends would pretend that we were on our periods just to get out of the swimming lessons when we were in secondary school ...naughty naughty
Used to do it occasionally when I was a young Commis Chef.
It was more about being plain exhausted though, so all I did on my unauthorised day off was sleep.
I havent done it for work just because i love my job enough not to do it, but i remember once when i broke my ankle in high school i would sometimes use it as an excuse to have a day off, Fair to say karma got its revenge because once while i was in my cast from breaking my ankle i did further damage by falling down onto the ground.
i used to pull sickies in my old job they were really strict with my annual leave dictating when i could and couldnt have it- so when i knew they wouldn't let me have a day off for something- i would call claiming i was sick...
but i havent in the job i am in now
I havent pulled a sickie unless actually ill, but someone I used to work with regularly phoned up sick saying she had seizures then after 2 months she came in all happy saying she had a provisional licence. I questioned her on it and said how did that happen as you had a seizure 2 month ago and dvla clearly state you have to be seizure free a year before applying so you havent declared it to them or you lied about the seizures. We caught her in her lies and told her if she pulled another sickie using the seizures excuse we would report her to dvla ourselves
This made me laugh, the swimming lesson sickie is exactly what i did teacher never even used to realise i would do weeks in a row etc too. Used to be a lot of girls sitting out for the same reason haha

Before lockdown we’d have yearly civil service conferences. I may have once or twice booked on them and then stayed at home
