Ever Lived in Dubai Anyone?
Ask a Question
My partner & I may be moving to Dubai later in the year. We’ve visited 15+ times and love it but interested if any of you that have lived there have any advice. x
Not visted or lived there myself but know a few people that have moved over there for business and they love it.
It gets ridiculously hot in the summer time, make sure your house and car has air con! If buying a new car out there, be aware that most of them are automatic. Be prepared to be awakened by the call to prayer early in the morning. When shopping in the supermarkets there are special areas for you to buy Haram foods from, it is in a separate room in the back, sometimes they are locked so you have to ask them to open it and these items can be expensive and there is limited choice. You will need to make sure that you dress modestly in public, always covering your shoulders and knees. Even if you aren't Muslim, brush up your knowledge on Islam, as you will be working and living with a large Muslim population and the religion has certain rules which they must follow, which you will need to respect.
You'll find loads of advice from people already living and working abroad (and can ask them questions) here:

Brits get everywhere!
My top tip is to read the existing advice before blundering in with questions that have already been answered many times before! Or risk annoying the very people you want help from.
