Have You Ever Had a Shock Mobile Phone Bill?
Ask a Question
I'm working on a guide to help people dispute incorrect or unfair mobile phone bills.
Have you ever received an incorrect mobile phone bill that was MUCH more expensive than expected? How much was it? What happened? Did you pay or get your money back?
Let me know in the comments, hearing your experiences is very helpful! ☺
It’s been years since I’ve had it happen, and when it did happen, I just called them up and they agreed to reduce it
Not sure if this quite fits into what you are after.
But a couple of years ago I had to call America to confirm a Day trip I was taking while out there.
It could only be done 48 hours before the trip so they could give me a precise pick up time etc, but I was out, so had to use my mobile phone.
I cringed when the lady on the other end of the phone put me on hold for what seemed like ages (Was only 5 minutes) While she found my details etc.
Let's just say that's £23 I'll not be seeing again.
Hey, thanks for sharing that's still really helpful it's scary how quickly bills can skyrocket when abroad
Years ago a "friend" asked to borrow my phone to make a call. Since they were struggling financially at the time I agreed, but really was not happy when I got a £37 bill after they were done downloading all sorts of things onto my phone to use too (which they deleted afterwards so I had no idea they even did it!) - all over data rather than WiFi! They refused to pay the bill so I was stuck with having to pay it, and never let them use any of my things again.
Oh no I'm so sorry you had to experience that! Definitely a good idea not letting them use anything again...
fionaleake I agree! It was really frustrating, since I was just trying to be nice and help them out, to get a bill like that!
When I was with EE I regularly had extra charges on my bill that I could never understand, I never went over my allowances or anything like that, it was only an extra pound or so every month but frustrating all the same.
when my daughter was in school she got a new phone contract which was obviously in my name. She had less data than her previous one which I was unaware of at the time. My fault for not checking. In the first week she ran up a bill of £300. Needless to say I was fuming and had to pay the bill and pay to add extra data to the contract.
Oh no that's a nightmare! It's so easy to go over data limits at least you realised quickly!
Tesco charge you 10p per mb of data when your allowance runs out. My son used over 900mb over his allowance and I got charged about £95!
