Do You Ever Have Trouble Sleeping?

I have had this problem for a while now. I find it really hard to sleep even though im really tired. I tried to do lots of exercises so I can make my body tired. I have tried wearing an eye mask but it hasn't made a difference.

Do you have the same problem?

What do you recommend I do?

I have no trouble falling asleep but can't sleep for long and am always up between 2 & 3 in the morning. After so many years I have decided it's just one of those things that changes as you get older... I don't know many people who actually do get a good nights sleep!

tumblespots It's been happening for years, since I was 13. It's not healthy for my mindset. I might mention it to my doctor and see what they suggest.

Justlooking2 I'm surprised that your parents didn't take you to a doctor years ago. I suppose they could refer you to a sleep clinic if they felt it was suitable?

I am up, as you can see, rather early again. I just don't fight it these days. If I wake up knowing that my sleep has eluded me yet again, I get up. I can always go back to bed shortly if I do feel tired again.

tumblespots If I do go to bed I get scared that I'll over sleep and get late for work so I stay awake.

Justlooking2 I do understand that. When I was much younger I used to set several alarms and slept through all of them, but everyone else in the house heard them!

tumblespots 😂😂🤣 I noticed that I did that, so I put the mpst annoying alarm ever that I wouldn't be able to snooze because it would annoy me that much lol

Justlooking2 That's a good idea, you are far more likely to try and stop the annoying sound when it does finally wake you up.

tumblespots Yes, I always hated myself for doing it lol. I placed the alarm where I had to get up to turn it off. Since I was out of bed, I wouldn't go back in bed. It really worked for me.

Justlooking2 Yep, keeping it out of reach is another excellent way to make yourself actually get up (and hopefully not go back to bed 😉 )

Justlooking2 Do I remember correctly that years ago they marketed a ball shaped alarm clock that you could throw at the wall to turn it off?

tumblespots I never heard of those before but they sound really good. For safety reasons I cannot get one as I share rooms with my sister and might accidently throw it at her unknowingly 😂🤣

I do have trouble going to sleep, I can hardly keep my eyes open and as soon as I get into bed, I am wide awake.

I've tried Lavender sleep mist, Lavender Aromatherapy Pillows, listening to music, reading.

Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't 🙂

That may be good idea, I've also tried writing things I'm worried about as that is supposed to empty your head of worries and so make it easier to sleep. Exercise is also be good as your body will be physically tired. You are not alone with having trouble sleeping 😴Wishing you good dreams Justlooking2

You could try breathing techniques,really calms the body&helps to relax.I love listening to audible,there are lots of podcasts like Wimhof,Jordan Peterson that have free episodes on spotify or amazon prime/audible.I like listening to audible helps me to wind down x

I did for a while, couldn't switch off properly. I took some herbal calm sleeping tablets and they helped. Not sure if it was just knowing that did the trick.

I used them for about a week, then stopped and it was as if my body was in a new routine.

I also love the M&S sleep range, I use the pillow spray and the hand cream at night. Love the smell, and the only time I remember to use hand cream 😅 Image

My nights are a bit random, sometimes I get into bed and fall asleep quite quickly, others I can lay awake for ages. The stress of work, sometimes doesn't help. What I have though is a pillow speaker, basically a small speaker that is placed in my pillow. So if I can't get to sleep or back to sleep, I just listen to a talk radio show or soft/easy music or sounds.

Justlooking2 Just search for "Pillow Speaker" on Amazon/Ebay etc. They usually come with a 3.5mm headphone jack cable which fits fine in my phone, but if your phone doesn't have an old style headphone jack or you have an iPhone, you can get adapters. You place the speaker actually in the pillow (not under the cover) so you may have cut a small hole in the pillow to put the speaker in.

I sleep ok now with a eye mask but only after taking a mild sedative off my doctor although I still wake up tired I've been diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome

I sleep better when I turn all electronic devices off at least an hour before bed (i.e., tablet, tv, phone although I don’t do this as often as I should). I definitely find it easier to get to sleep when I do.

Chanelno5 I used to be on electronic devices quite often. However I have limited myself but even still I find it troublesome to sleep.

I find playing a repetitive game on my phone actually helps me to get to sleep since it seems to wear my mind out somewhat and makes me concentrate on something other than whatever I was thinking about that was keeping me awake. I know electronics can make things worse for a lot of people, though.

I’ve had sleeping issues for years. CBD oil worked for a while but then I must of got used to it and it stopped working.

Currently working shifts so when I’m off I use a 5htp supplement which has been BRILLIANT for me but warning, it does give you crazy dreams! Lol

I am lucky I just go to bed and as soon as I lay on the pillow I drift off pretty quick but it doesn’t matter what time I go to bed I always wake at 5 am
