Is Everyone Clapping Tonight?
Ask a Question
I think it was good idea at first but doing it again don’t think they will feel same.
am sure they would prefer more tests and protection doing there jobs and that’s all key workers
I thought it was meant to be a one off thing. Then I heard very last minute it was happening again. Is it actually an ongoing thing now?
MeestairChrees not sure the whole street was out last week but only 3 were out tonight didn’t clap loud I think they felt embarrassed that no one came out there were fireworks last week too I think nhs would prefer donations of safety equipment or money to buy their own
Ann1984 apparently our road had more this time than last. Did hear one firework go off too.
angemski yes indeed, that was beautiful. Unless you have been on another planet you will all know that I recently went to see Phantom with my family. I was so lucky to get this in before lockdown and it will be a lovely memory hopefully repeated with Les Mis in times to come. Last night I idled away an hour or two on YouTube watching clips from both shows, especially the one with Antonio Banderos and the film starring Gerard Butler as the Phantom.
I will share this in case anyone, like me, was ignorant of the fact: Ramin Karimloo, who stars in the Alfie Boe clip above looked very familiar to me so I looked him up and I was right! He is currently playing Kian Madani in Holby City. I had no idea he was an operatic singer.
I heard fireworks tonight and tbh I’m wondering where people are getting their fireworks from? I didn’t think you could buy them all year round
I heard one too. Might just be ones leftover from New Year? Maybe they bought them in a sale after, for next year?
No, I didn't hear any clapping this time. If they are going to do this every week it will quickly become inconsequential. They should only do it again when the restrictions are lifted
I was putting my son to bed on both occasions. I heard fireworks this week, none last week though and the pipe bands in Scotland played Scotland the Brave last night. I think it is nice for us to show our appreciation, apparently it is meant to be every week now.
I didn't realise until the very last minute and went to the door - it was absolutely silent so I tend to agree that the first time it happened was the heartfelt salute and most people thought it would dilute the first gesture.
Our road doesn't do it, other than us but we could hear it on the estate behind. We're by a port so all the ships tooted their horns and there were some flashlights and fireworks also.
