Everyone These Days is a "Partner"

Other

I don't get why folks decided to replace girlfriend/boyfriend/wife/husband with the vague, generic, loose, bland word "partner" as that takes away the significance away.

A partner can mean a friend, a family member, a pet, an employee or a complete stranger but nowadays a soulmate is a "partner".

This is honestly kinda confusing but if people want to call their loved ones a "partner" then.. eh, I don't necessarily assume he/she is referring to his or her wife/husband, though as the word is vague enough to be open to interpretation.

I have no boy friend. I just got my dad. And I live on my own and very happy. I do have dogs and budgies

My Partner is my Partner. I think I am too old now to have a boyfriend. That's why I use the term. And to avoid the already cliched conversations about 'Are you married'? It's just a choice for me and also I like the fact we are equal partners in all that we do.

I object to 'partner' on forms as I think that it demeans marriage. I have a husband not a partner.

I always refer to my husband as my husband, but I can understand people referring to someone as their partner as someone might feel they are too old to have a boyfriend/girlfriend. I think it is about personal preference.

I think people say partner so they don't get quizzed on wether they're married or not!

I think this term is right to use like business partner.

I do not like to use it for personal relationships.

If u google it this will come up> a person who takes part in an undertaking with another or others, especially in a business or firm with shared risks and profits.

I think people use the term 'partner' because some think it's immature to use the word boyfriend/girlfriend as it sounds like a teenager thing. It could also be because some people want to keep their relationship more private without the fear of being judged upon.

I don't really like the word being used for personal relationships either. But each to our own. 🙂

Well, I could refer to my partner using different terms, but it may make other people cringe...😜
