What genre do you prefer. I could recommend dozens of historical fiction books but you may prefer sci fi or crime. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon has history, time travel and romance all rolled into one.

Lynibis She writes romance fictions set in Scotland but theres a slight supernatural/spiritual element running through each of her books. Very easy reads but i find her style very moving & touching. This is the first book in her Glen Avich series if you wanted a look. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.amazon.co.uk/Watch-Over-Me-Bestseller-Avich-ebook/dp/B0078XHAB4&ved=2ahUKEwje--zVwNTnAhUMKMAKHcYaBlAQFjADegQIBBAB&sqi=2&usg=AOvVaw3AegsMI3FYDaL0009CYSiZ

She also has the Seal Island series but all her books can be read individually.

Glitterandgold brill, thank you, sounds a bit like Barbara Erskine, her heroines are present day women who also have an historical identity.
