Extra Benefit Money

Other

i been reading few pages online where people have already been complaining. So from April just gone they been getting extra 20 a week due to Coronavirus, but they feel they going to struggle next year when it’s taken off them. I would have been so great full for that extra little cash right now. personally if they didn’t need before lockdown they could easily save it because it’s money they never used to have. What Would have you done if you didn’t need right now. I would have donated mine because there are a lot of people struggling

That's a good idea! I am unsure but I don't think benefits have been cut since the virus have they (correct me if I'm wrong) so with less expenses (travel, activities) I wouldn't have thought many people who rely on benefits would struggle more since lockdown. Personally, even though my wages have decreased, my expenses have decreased more, ok my food shopping is perhaps slightly more expensive but I've saved a lot by not having to travel to work and things like that.

lornaae univeral credits have given extra 20 pounds yes some work but I would say 60 percent don’t. Do you think it’s wrong of government doing this when the money could have been going to the nhs Ppe equipment

Ann1984 yes true, but then like the rest wouldn't they be getting 80% of wages there? I am not sure, I suppose they have worked it out and perhaps it would be unfair to give to some and not others, and even more difficult to try to work out who truly needed the extra and who didn't. It is a tricky one, but I certainly think the government have acted poorly on how and where they put their funds. They should be funding the NHS, not donations raised by a 99-year-old walking lengths of his garden.

lornaae yes it is a shame the government have acted poorly on this. So many people have lost loved ones and there are old age people doing more for NHS. Myself and husband didn’t wont to donate to these go fund me pages so put few pound in envelope and posted it to a nhs worker who lives in street. With note saying thank you and to treat yourself.

Ann1984 That's a lovely idea! I am sure they really appreciated that! It is tough isn't it, I want to help but have mixed feelings about donating to the Go Fund Me pages also, they don't donate all of the money and I generally disagree that the NHS should have to rely on donations. I have instead donated some food to a local food bank and am looking into donating to Fare Share or the Trussell Trust

lornaae other half has been popping to local shops and he has noticed not one has a bucket to support so this was nearest next thing. These go fund me pages take to much commission and you personally don't know how it's spent.

Ann1984 Agreed, I'd rather donate directly than via go fund me, and then I know that it's gone to the charity
