Family Who Was Accused of Not Paying Their Bill

In the News

I remember actually seeing this at the time it happened and I do believe the place should have made sure they didn't pay instead of just put the family online

What do you think of this?+20 points

I think that's fair enough L

It's a good job they weren't celebrities , the compensation would have been closer £750,000

And at least there was good reason to claim the compensation, in my post the woman was awarded £30,000 just for being embarrassed about being compared to darth vader, lol

telmel I've seen a few comments on Facebook saying they should get that much but I did think we'll hold on a minute this family have been branded as thieves online so I can understand why it's that much

Leannexxx Yes, i would expect at least that amount if i was mistakenly publicly accused of dishonesty

It was to make an example of them, to ensure other businesses don’t just violate GDPR laws by posting images of people

That’s a hefty fine, will teach people not to just post things online without being 100% sure.

Seems a big fine.

I am thou fed up with people using social media to make accusations and embarrass people all the time, often without justification it does need to be controlled better. People are so quick to post anything and everything without thinking.

I remember seeing this on Facebook, I'm glad they got what they deserve, £75,000 is a nice pay day

I have just seen that this family are actually multi millionaires so probably had enough money to spend on lawyers.

I’m a bit torn on this one. One of the articles have said the pub may have to close which means loss of jobs etc etc. the family that got accused must have been incredibly offended and whoever posted the details on Facebook is obviously a complete knob - but its a shame on the rest of the staff if they do lose their jobs.

Maybe a front page apology on daily newspapers and get the guy from the pub to do community service at the family’s business. The family don’t need the money so it would be nice to see them give it to charity.
