Fast Forward 12 Months did anyone use all toilet roll
Ask a Question
So it’s been 12 months since the world went crazy. Stock pilling people running credit cards up etc.
My question is did you really use all that toilet roll
Hard to believe it has been 12 months already. We didn't really buy any more toilet roll than usual, though it was obviously difficult at times getting hold of some.
..... It took me almost two months to get some, it was sold out every where. The corner shop one i did get disintegrated whilst wiping, it was bloody awful. It took me 7 trips waiting at 7am before I managed to get a 12 pack. It was like hitting the jackpot.
I always buy in bulk when they are cheap on Amazon so i had plenty 'in stock' and didnt need to worry
Yes I remember it well , and members boasting on here how they had sheds , garages , wardrobes etc full of the stuff . I did point out several times that there was no shortage just a distribution lag to no avail . Idiots will obey Social media these days .
The only ones who suffered were vulnerable pensioners who couldn't get their weekly 2 pack after drawing their pension . I hope those idiots who still have garages full of the stuff felt some remorse when reading about the pensioners and now feel totally stupid .
I was quite content whilst folk were busy raiding the toilet roll , fresh veg and pasta shelves. I was busy stocking up with Beer, Frozen chips and Beans , so had plenty when the stockpilers turned their attention to those .
By the time the beans and chips had inevitably worked their way through there were loads of loo rolls on the shelves .
So you stock piled diffrent products then my mum bought when ahe saw em so they had plenty but she not an ejet more my bros spends alot of time on loo golf you cant really have go at people stock piling bog rolls when you stock piled beans chips
Mctash I very much doubt if beer , beans or chips were at any time deemed essential or even in short supply ? I always have a good month's worth in my house waiting for the next offer on them . You would be surprised how much you save buying stuff you get through a lot of only when it's on a great offer !
Far better way of saving money than blindly following the Social Media crowd
Golfforall im not on social media lmao i like to stock pile stuff but i do it all year
Golfforall stock piling still stock piling weather none essential or essential in my eyes i like to think of it as safe gaurd ing myself just like we stock piled 2 week mim worth food incase we had to isolate
I'm shook it's 12 month already . We never stockpiled but didn't really suffer a shortage either. We have 3 corner shops near by & a Tesco garage so were always able to get anything we couldn't in big shop.
We didn't stockpile on anything. I always tend to have a well stocked cupboard and freezer and then when it runs low stock it up again. We have a corner shop across the road from us which is always well stocked anything we couldn't find in the supermarket, we got from there. We didn't buy loads of toilet roll. We had actually bought a 24 pack before the stockpiling started so we were fine but I did feel for some people. I remember my mother in law did the shopping for her and for my husbands Granny when everyone was stockpiling and she had two 9 packs of toilet rolls and everyone was judging her and making comments in the store. Stockpiling was a crazy time.
Pictures all over the Press and TV showing warehouses chock a block with loo rolls , but that was a "conspiracy theory " according to "trending" social media much loved by the brain dead .
As I said at the time , how many loo rolls can you get in a Tesco artic compared to food at a time the panic buyers were going mad for no reason !
And what did we see a couple of weeks later ? Domestic bins filled with unused food that had gone off ... But at least the idiots had spotless bums .
Golfforall I never needed to stockpile has with 4 kids and a hungry husband always need food in the house and still then they morn nothing here to eat but yes my husband did stock pile beer we done few trips before lockdown hit
Mrs does me nut in sje got judged how dare people judge her peeps can use there big words i ll stick to me little words but at least i listen gov were stateing were if when possible to shop for anothers to do this so no1 not 1 person has right to judge her
As it happened we had a few rolls in because we’d ordered from Wilko to get Topcashback bonuses, so didn’t need to worry. I always buy again anything that I run out of at the moment as you don’t know what is round the corner.
I can just about get to my bed now after working through our supply. We're still having to cook in the living room though because our kitchen is stacked from floor to ceiling with pasta and flour.
With 5 people we buy big packs. The only thing we haven't used up is tomatoes soup we got 3 a week during first lockdown from government only one of us like tomatoe soup
I normally buy a big bulk pack on amazon, however last year I was down to 4 rolls (not in desperate need) but happened to see amazon was out of stock at the time but having visited Tesco to do my shop I got a reasonable size pack but only got the one pack and left the others. By the time I got through that I ordered the usual from amazon when on offer.
Did not stock pile it as always have a stock in due to years of not being able to go out for months.....
Remember the stock piling in the 1970s , my dad's work colleagues went wild had hundreds of pounds of sugar under the bed ,in the bathroom, etc etc!
I didn't feel a need to stockpile. Pre-COVID I didn't tend to buy a large quantity of any product unless it was a ridiculously good deal.
No I didn’t run out but my daughter did. I came to her rescue because there were none in the stores near her. I’m sure lots of families were caught short especially if there’s no room to store spare stock.
We've been buying in bulk via Amazon subscriptions for the last two years so when supplies did get short we were generally ok. It was difficult getting the subscriptions though for a few months but generally the one time we were running low I did find some in Poundland to tide us over. The other good thing was that I always book my online Tesco shopping 4 weeks in advance so had plenty of slots booked when the lockdown hit and you count book anymore. i think we have only had to do two supermarket shops in the last year, and never ran out of supplies apart from milk etc which we picked up at the local corner shop as needed. It does pay to be organised!
