You may remember I started a book club/review some time ago lilyflower but having done a search it is not coming up. I have always found search chat to be very unreliable and hence why we get so many repeats.
Lynibis Yep, sometimes it takes a looooong time, I knew there were topics and they were the only three I could find, but guess what I found this morning https://www.latestdeals.co.uk/chat/anyone-fancy-joining-book-club?page=3#recent DanyPedroso another one for your list
lilyflower oh well done I did actually put that title in but still no joy so not sure how you found it lol. Thank you.
Edit, duh just realised I had changed the title!
Lynibis hey lynibis, you've mentioned before about watching the Reign on Netflix but have you read any history books about anyone that was in the show. Ive just finished reading a book on Nostradamus
chelseaturpin old Nostradamus was certainly a fella, I think he may have been the only real person portrayed on that programme if I remember correctly. I must admit it is a while back so I will have to check.
I mostly read English history and am currently reading a Sharon Penman trilogy from King John through to Edward I and the struggles against the Welsh Prince Llewellyn Fawr and Llewellyn ap Gruffydd. It sounds boring but it is a fictionalized story so is certainly not boring, real facts woven into the imagined story of certain real characters.
Lynibis Have you got any good recommendations for me please? You know i'm into the very weird and wonderful and you always have good taste.
Chelsea0121 bless you, I am flattered. Sadly I am not so much into weird but definitely wonderful. Maybe you could give a little more info. Do you like time travel as I can definitely recommend the Outlander books by Diana Gabaldon, yay series 6 of the filmed versions coming soon, wonderful but only a little weird as she travels through a mini Stonehenge in scotland. Weird always brings Terry Pratchett to mind although I have not read them myself. It seems our tastes differ wildly so you may like Richard Osman's 'The Thursday Murder Club' I gave up a quarter of the way through.
If I think of any others I will add here.
Lynibis i love post apocalyptic and time travel. Outlander deffo sounds like something I would read. Im gunna give it a go
Chelsea0121 it is one of the best love stories I have ever read and if you like the books you may then want to watch the series as the lead actors are marvellous at portraying that deep and abiding love.
You must read the kite runner from Khaled Hosseini he’s an American Afghani writer. He’s absolutely amazing. He writes beautifully.
I also liked Elif Shafaq the bastard of Istanbul.
Great topic
Mariam91130 I agree. The Kiterunner is a good read but sad given what's happening in Afghanistan now.
A thousand splendid sun? Guess you have probably read that before if you are a book lover?
