I went to Dublin with my girlfriend last year, we had a great time. Very friendly people. We're thinking about going to Belfast at some point.

Hi Bossclaz Dublin is great so have had plenty of fun times there. Connemara (Galway) and Dingle (Kerry) are stunning. Derry is brilliant too 😍☘️

Have you considered Northern Ireland? The North Coast is amazing. Drive around it from Belfast to Derry.

Ballyshannon in Donegal was lovely. I spent 4 nights there. Good access to different tourist places using Ballyshannon as a base. Waterford looked nice through the coach window but I had a terrible migraine and had to stay in my hotel room in the dark and missed going out and exploring. Travelling the whole length of the Wild Atlantic Way is great and there are many small little villages along it. Depends if you want big towns if so Cork and Kerry. Kerry has the racecourse in Kilarney and of course the ring of Kerry which is stunning if the weather is right. I prefered the small places as I'm not too keen on towns and cities as I get older.

Cork was voted the third friendliest city in the world by one publication - voted on by people around the world. I'd be happy to take the recommendation. (Dublin would be another choice as I haven't been)

If it is a city break you are after, Cork or Galway. You can fly to Knock or Shannon airport for Galway and then either hire a car or get a bus to Galway. Cork city is close to the airport and again, you could hire a car or use public transport. If you hire a car and have time, visit Kinsale and Cobh - both beautiful coast towns.

If you fly into Knock, do go to the knock Shrine. I found it very funny. I've never been anywhere less 'holy' in my life. The shops around the shrine selling every kind of religious tack were great for all the wrong reasons. holy water on tap at the knock shrine. Buy or bring bottle and fill up. I gave several out as gifts. Then again, I have a strange sense of humour
