What is Your Favourite Type of Cake?
Ask a Question
I am searching for some ideas of different flavoured birthday cakes I can make during lockdown. Has anyone got any ideas?
I love a red velvet or white chocolate and raspberry. Hardly unusual I know but already salivating
You name it - red Velvet, Madera, Light fruit cake, Lemon drizzle, chocolate, coffee.
Actually, I've just realised I never met a cake I didn't like.
blacklabrador Have you tried Mincemeat and Marmalade or Chocolate Guinness? Yummy I have the recipes.
blacklabrador This is the one we use https://www.jamesmartinchef.co.uk/recipes/chocolate-and-guinness-cake/
I love chocolate cakes any kind but not too nutty! Carrot cake seems to be in trend at the moment but Iโm still not too sure about that one!
Has to be chocolate and I love the cakes that Costco do with the butter frosting! So bad but yet so good!
love cheesecake also like chocolate foundant with vanilla ice cream yummy , done them few weeks ago banoffee pie easy and nice with a touch of salt
I love cheescakes with fruits and jelly on the top. Nothing too sweet and definitely NO ICING ! Icing tastes like plastic to me.
Chocolate fudge cake is my ultimate favourite. If we eat out anywhere, I always look at the desserts first to see if they do it!
When I was young my mother used to make a chocolate fingers birthday cake, which was basically a chocolate buttercream filled sponge , lined around the side with chocolate fingers , on the top she would melt put melted chocolate and if you were really luck finish it with something like Maltesers or M&Ms on the top.
Victoria sponge
Carrot cake
Lemon drizzle
Coffee cake
Oh there could be more but it would possibly be what it looks like that sways me
Lemon drizzle, carrot cake and my favourite cherry Bakewell. Oh to be honest anything except coconut.
ohhhh yep beccatavender ....cherry bakewell ... had forgotten that one ...and a blast from the past ....proper Lardy Cake unhealthy maybe/definitely ....but terrific!
I forgotten about Lardy cake, I love anything with currants
Not a birthday cake but I used to like upside down pineapple cake. A blast from the past
beccatavender now that's another one i like but had forgotten about .... need to get recipe hunting I think!
I think sometimes just remember brings back the memories, Lardy cake with a milky coffee from a cafe near Swansea market, with my Mum, when we had an half await between buses was a big treat !
beccatavender Hey thanks for the link ..... I saved the recipe. Fortunately I AM cheeky enough to go and beg from the butcher ...and not have to render my own lard (their suggestion ). I'm thinking I'll have a bash in the colder weather. You're right about the memories....I used to eat mine on the top of the bus going home after secondary school ...the long way round so we could admire our chosen males from the boy's school!
