I do hope so but a fortnight is a long time, plenty of time for things to change

The current data (positive tests , hospital admissions etc) is showing an encouraging fall but , as we know, "There's many a slip 'twixt cup and lip " 
.
If the current trend in data continues what would your timetable out of the lock down be ?
Don’t hold your breath on this. I read earlier no uk holidays either i hope not true for my in laws sake. They have caravan and really could do with a break they have already had to pay this years fees, and they paid last year and caravan park don’t offer and part refund.
I have come to realise that whatever the PM says, we take with a pinch of salt. He gets all our hopes up and then decides to change his mind at the last minute. Best thing we can do now is to take things as they come and don't take his word for it.
But upon getting my crystal ball out, here is what I predict will happen (in England anyway):
- March - Schools will reopen to reception, year 1, year 2, year 10 and year 11
- After Easter hols - Schools to fully reopen to all pupils
- April - All non-essential shops are to reopen. Colleges will also reopen, and perhaps universities; though only part time.
- May - Gyms, pubs, cinemas and hairdressers are to reopen
- From September onwards - Universities to fully reopen.

RegularComper90 only one of mine can go but no point as it’s only for 2 hours, mine desperately won’t to go back. It’s parents saying keep shut causing problems.
To be fair he can only act on the available info . I don't think anyone saw this South African variant coming which is far more contagious .
Then of course there is compliance . At a rough estimate I would say 30% of the population follow the guidance , 40% follow the guidance most of the time (but bend the rules as and when it suits them ) , The remaining 30% would flaunt the guidance all the time and its only the threat of enforcement that makes them think twice .
The politicians have to tell us how brilliantly we are doing to keep the virus in check blah ,blah whilst knowing that a significant minority either do not understand or couldn't care less .
I think you have the timetable about right (depending on the roll out , the efficacy and the take up of the vaccine ) but I think pubs and restaurants will be sooner (beginning of April ?) . That's not just because I miss my pub 
but because the "hospitality " industry accounts for about 30 % of UK jobs and over 25% of the economy .
Golfforall Yes, many people haven't been following the rules which certainly doesn't help matters. But I hope you can get back to your beloved pub again very soon. 
I'm just taking one day at a time and hoping for the best. Most important is staying safe. I will go mad if they extend school hours or they loose holidays as my kids doing full school day
Imnotcheap I'm with you on this one the kids are still working hard so why should they have to do longer days and have hoildays cut
Don't think pubs will open until end of April with restrictions, just before May local elections!
I may not be the biggest fan of boris johnson in fact i can't stand him even in the slightest, As much as i believe he can't shy away from this im sure me and him and a lot of the country have very different ideas as to what a roadmap out of the lockdown could look like, i do believe if an when he announces it he will try to be a vague as he can be and not target specific areas or at least announce them. But this is honestly all my opinion and i hope he proves me wrong. Also sorry if i offend anyone.
Problem with any roadmap will be for every idea in getting out of the nightmare we find ourselves in 1 person will think it is the right route then another person will think it is walking us towards another disaster .I aint no fan of the government but they have got the vaccine roll out down to a fine art and it is a brilliant way of getting something truly correct and given us light at the end of the tunnel.BUT some of the mistakes they have made have been nothing short of catostrophic and taken us backwards and not forwards.
I heard a mayor say he thinks Boris really doesn't need to be led by the backbenchers but by the people who will help keep this country get to the end without risking 10's of thousands of more lives .
1 rule I will never not go against and I think Boris would be wise to take heart by is Health is worth so much more than wealth .
Fortunately we don't live in a dictatorship , its a democracy . Those Tory backbenchers and indeed Captain Hindsight and the Labour MPs , the SNP , Libdems etc are all part of that Democracy and their views considered .
At the end of the day any decisions are taken by the cabinet advised by the Scientists and not by Boris separately in some Ivory tower . Although as the "Boss" as it were he has to take the rap for those decisions . Not a job I'd like , Damned whatever you do !

I think pub beer gardens opening on 12th April is a sensible first step towards opening up hospitality . Can see problems with town and city centre pubs though . Put 2 or 3 tables on the pavement to enable them to open, then dozens of people milling around on the street drinking ?
I do enjoy the ambience of the "pavement culture" of other nations and it does seem to work with coffee shops over here or even pubs during the day .
Sadly it seems to degrade to drunken crowds with no social distancing in the evenings and that's in a fairly quiet market town like ours . It'll take some policing !
