Flagrant Disregard of Rules ( important addition)
Other
My son asked if a 22 year old employee could work on Saturday. He explained that he couldn't because him and his mates were paying £30 each to a local pub landlord who would then allow them to lockdown in his pub and drink to their hearts content. They had another pub lined up for later on too.
I can understand the desire to spend time with loved ones over Christmas etc but I truly question the mentality of these morons who think it is ok to do this and then potentially take covid home to those very loved ones.
Needless to say my son told him not to bother coming in to work today but to work from home for the required amount of time. Doubt very much he will stay in though.
One word for him
Some people just think they invincible but would either of them think differently if few weeks later they be at someone’s funeral
I understand that the pubs and hospitality are finding it hard at the moment as business is really suffering, but this is down right irresponsible. The landlord and the people paying to do it should be ashamed of themselves! I sincerely hope they don't catch it and transmit it further. I just find it insulting to those of us who have followed the rules from the start and made sacrifices. It is people like him and his mates that will make it harder on the NHS. It makes me really angry, I understand people wanting to spend Christmas day with their loved ones, but sitting in a pub getting drunk is a whole different thing!
A part of me wonders why we even bother to have rules and restrictions as so many seem to disregard them. Trouble is, there are no rules to fit everyone. E.g. I cannot mix with anyone other than my bubble and only 3 households for Christmas (mine will be just 2), but the council/government are quite happy for me to mix with up to 7/8 households on a mini bus full of older teens not wearing masks! So basically ok to risk my life for strangers but not loved ones.
There was an expert on tv this morning talking of covid being like cigarette smoke pervading an indoor room so can anyone ever really keep safe, even in their bubble? It is obviously not just contact with contaminated items, physical contact, but also being within proximity of someone just breathing, 2 metres or not!
It is obvious that denser populated countries like ours will suffer more but if only every single person regularly washed hands, clothes, kept distances and did as required it could lessen the covid impact. But so many idiots around. I recently watched two colleagues greet each other maskless, with a huge laughing hug and just stood gawping in dismay.
The trouble is, with young people, the chances of them become extremely ill or dying is incredibly rare, therefore some will carry on as normal and risk it. To them, it's just the flu or a cold and they're right but they don't seem to be able to compute that while they may be asymptomatic, they can still spread the virus to others
No the trouble with all age groups. Its not just the young and its wrong to just blame them. The amount if people I see of all age groups flouting the rules is unbelievable
TheChimp Its across the board of all age groups who are causing the spread, its just the young who keep getting blame.
My wife's grandparents are high risk and have been complaining about others not following rules but since lockdown has been eased they have been out everyday if not twice a day
The landlords wants their license removed and banned from running a licensed premises. The 22 yr olds are morons for wanting to go get hammered in potential spread covid during the pandemic.
This thread is a perfect example of people dividing into two groups, the "righteous" one and the "unlawful" one.
Also, the name-calling doesn't really help.
As long as people have this behavior it'll never change.
PhilipMarc We all know about your views about ignoring guidance/LAWS, so will you enlighten us on exactly where you stand?
You obviously haven't had a family member or a friend die of Covid yet.
I just they all stay away from me. Why can't people just stick to rules so we can all enjoy freedom sooner
Even if they do stay away from you, they might not have stayed away from people who do not stay away from you.
Many of those who do comply with the regulations are carriers too.
I just want EVERYONE to stay away from me. Especially after Christmas when I reckon infection rates and fatalities will soar.
Sadly some people will never follow the rules ,even though they are for the good of us all . When coming up with the "rules" the Government have to factor in that 30% won't follow them , so have to make them more repressive to account for that .
Its pointless mucking around with tiers and rules when the majority of the terminally thick won't follow them anyway .
Problem is , its not just more people catching the virus due to these idiots , its thousands of viable businesses (particularly in hospitality ) that will never reopen due to the rate being forced higher by these mindless pond life .
I feel for my granddaughter as she teaches at a local boys grammar school. They have had 18 staff tested positive, 450 children isolating most having tested positive and emails keep coming in of more positive cases. Government have said they are not allowed to close down or they will be fined but they were happy to close Eton last week!
Surely this near Christmas holidays they should all close.
Pjran the teachers at my children's school started wearing masks last week, the teacher said it was because they didnt want to all have to isolate over christmas...they all should have been wearing masks/face shields from day 1 in my opinion.
PinkElephant26 the head has quite firmly told them no although the union says it violates their human rights. No one dares go against their headmaster. I offered to contact the local MP but she declined.
Stories like this make my blood boil. I have loads of similar stories with a former friend of mine.
Oh that’s why the virus is spreading. There are so many going out socialising but the pub is well and truly breaking all the rules. I hope someone reports the pub.
You can report stuff like this, either by ringing 101 or online I think by going on the met.police.uk website
There's little point reporting them, the police already know where they can get a drink.
I haven't been in a pub since February - I haven't seen a police officer either,
davidstockport They can issue fines and throw people out of places like that though, especially if they are illegally open such as in this case
lornaae From what I have seen they do very little, people going round endangering the lives of others should not get away with a mere warning (they don't even get a warning most of the time). I go out once a week late night to Aldi , and wear face covering (even though I'm exempt) I see people, sometimes couples with children, totally ignoring the face covering regulations. The same on a bus I had to use, if they'd dish out a few £200 fines instead of ignoring them it might deter others.
davidstockport it drives me mad when you see people in shops with their mask pulled under their chin...like they've walked in the shop with it on properly then they think theyre ok to pull it down!?!? Idiots!!
I am becoming so angry with this whole farce now. We are given rules to follow and some disregard them on purpose and others are forced to disregard them and have no choice. We know key workers are in latter group.
Long story short, I was informed yesterday that I had been in close contact with a child who has sat next to a pupil now tested positive. I told my boss but he says there is no reason for me to stay home! Draw your own conclusions.
What angers me most is that we, as a company are employed by the council and daily in relatively close contact with staff, parents, carers and very close contact with the kids.
We were locked down during first but had to work during second, where is the sense in that, our job is not that important.
The rules are confusing to be fair - I can go do a shop indoors with hundreds of other people but not allowed to see a loved one indoors. Young people think they are invincible - I did at that age too and until it impacts them directly I doubt they will change. I want to say shut the pubs because once alcohol is involved, all morals go out the window !! But that would be unfair to the pub owners at what would be a very busy time of year. Tough one
If they had of sacked cummings at the right time then that would have sent a message to the public and may have had a better response from public.
Oh dear the loony left spouting nonsense yet again ! Do you or your dodgy left wing websites ever look beyond 8 months ago ?
Since then just about all sections of people in the public eye have been caught doing far worse . Sportsmen and women , Broadcasters , Politicians of all hues(including your guru , the irrelevant Jeremy ) , Singers, Actors etc -- Need I go on ?
Maybe you get your info from really dodgy sources ? So perhaps a reality check (reading unbiased news) could be the release from your obsession with Dominic Cummins that is months overdue .
By the way he's long gone and forgotten - or didn't the Morning Star report that ?
I think all those in the Public eye are learning not to "throw stones" , Glass houses and all that . Maybe 8 months on you could stop chucking that well worn out fossil ?
Golfforall Oh look its the tory who wants to blame the young. Maybe you should wake up.
Getsome Not much of a response ? As every day passes and more info is processed the 16 - 35 age group is increasingly being shown to be the "superspreaders" .
I really think it is you who should wake up and read some real news . Then at least you would see that fact and stop denying the young are the main spreaders ?
That fact has been proven for months . Why deny it ?
I’m pleased to say our local police have taken action, The officers engaged with the licensee before ultimately reporting him for summons. The pub was fined £1K.
