Flavoured Cross Buns ....Already! ?

Ask a Question

Extra Special hot cross buns are available in four flavours in Asda right now! :

Extra Fruity, Chocolate chip, Fudge with pieces of sea salted fudge or Bramley Apple and Cinnamon.

Has anyone tried some or all of these yet?

I'd love to try the fudge/sea salt version 😋

I've just had a Tomato & Red Leicester Hot Cross Bun. It was quite tasty but I'll grate a bit of cheese to enhance the flavour, on the next one!!

I've not seen them but they do sound nice. It's just a quest of which to try first the chocolate chip think my kids would love that the fudge or apple my youngest would love that

I bought some Heston Blumenthal ones from Waitrose last year, I won’t bother buying them again.

SAdeals There were only two in the pack and let’s just say Waitrose own fruity buns in my opinion are better.

I love the traditional fruity ones but did enjoy some apple ones from M & S one year. I am intrigued by the savoury ones too. Asda have had loads of hot cross buns reduced to 10p so I guess people aren’t buying them yet.

Grannyclock I think asda may have overestimated the interest in hot Cross Buns this early in January!

I'm a bit of a pedant when it comes to Hot Cross buns..won't touch em until Easter and then I like em from the bakers trad style. They are quite pagan apparently has to do with the four quarters of the moon.Toasted with loads of butter oozing off..yummmm Image

SAdeals Prefer a cheese omelette or egg in a cup. Give me fruit and nut or a whole nut bar instead of an choc egg anyday.

These sound interesting, I haven't seen them, but we only have a small Asda, I fancy the Apple and cinnamon. But are they hot cross buns, as I thought traditionally Hot cross buns had to have currents and raisins in them ? Although I'm sure it's me, just being behind the times

beccatavender I know what you mean. Every thing is getting changed around for people's preferences. I'm looking forward to trying the cinnamon version too!
