What Food or Drink Makes You Feel Better When You Are Not Feeling Well

Ask a Question

When I was a kid my Mum always made me hot milk and that always makes me feel loved. For my son it's chicken soup.

Whenever I’m not feeling well, I have some saltine crackers and green juice. I usually won’t feel like eating particularly anything hot or cold. So room temperature snacks only for me.

After feeling off colour I usually only want a bowl of frosties (no milk, as I can't stand the stuff) and tropicana. I always feel that the sugars in these items help me to recover.

Knorr Chicken Noodle soup!

Always a winner when someone's poorly.

TheChimp agree with this, we always have a few packets in the cupboard for emergencies

As a kid our mam always gave us either chicken soup or lightly buttered toast with a cup of tea when we were poorly. As an adult they are still all I want when I'm poorly.

For me it's normally the stuff you should not have. If I have problems with diarrhea then I normally have a spicy curry, sorts me right out

My husband always pours himself a whisky when he's feeling under the weather

My Irish parents insisted that a hot brandy was a cure for anything! I now find I crave the comfort of one if I feel unwell.

I always used to have mushroom soup as a kid if I felt sick, so I usually crave that.

Anything hot and spicy clears my airways and awakens the senses. A nice shot of whisky does the trick also

Sounds a bit daft but chips and parsley sauce. My favourite as a kid and works a treat in making me feel better 😁😁😁

Hot ribena, toast with butter and my mums homemade chicken noodle shop. Mum always made those when I wasn't feeling well. They are still what I have now

There's only one thing I fancy when I'm feeling unwell and it never disappoints - homemade chicken soup. Full of goodness and research suggests that it has a mild anti-inflammatory effect.

Soup is definitely a good go-to food for when you’re not feeling well, or something simple like toast

I've seen soup that was just like.. "dirty" water. Quite a stretch for someone to call it "soup." lol

PhilipMarc well perhaps it depends on the soup then, not the kind that looks like dirty water😂

I kind of hate drinking hot tea, but when I feel full that helps.

Lucozade. Has to be the original though. Always makes me feel better. X

Often I feel ill because I've been eating too much rubbish, too much sugar or fat etc so I often find a nice sensible salad makes me feel better. I'd also agree a sweet tea can be very nice and if I'm really ill the original Lucozade hits the spot.

To cheer me up I think a nice hot chocolate can hit the spot or maybe a bag of toffees.

I love soup but no one ever makes me soup 😂 I like the freshly made stuff so that's probably why lol
