How Often Do You Food Prep?
Money Saving
How often do you food prep? I try and do a load off prep on the weekend but by the end of the week I’ve run out and end up ordering food but I’m trying to save! Any helpful tips?
The way I do it is by actually counting (when weekly shopping) the main ingredients for seven meals, almost regardless of what I've already got. If I've even started a thing such as a jar of coffee in the preceding week I'll buy another ready for when it runs out.
I thought this was they way everyone did shopping, it like one in the wash, wear one, spare one, or is it just the way I was brought up. I always have a reserve in the cupboard.
lilyflower I'm exactly the same, by the counting method my "reserves" never diminish. I do reckon I could easily survive for over a month if for any reason I couldn't shop. This isn't stock-piling (which causes shortages) but common sense. Even if I forget to buy a thing one week - it won't really matter.
davidstockport It's something I've always done, being brought up in remote rural Northumberland when the weekly shopping trip took an hour to the nearest town you didn't forget anything and the cupboard was extra full November - April because you never knew if you could go shopping because of the weather.
lilyflower When and where I grew up it was THEN quite usual for the "corner shop" to be a family's food cupboard, but things have changed since then and very few need to shop more than once a week.
davidstockport Nice talking to you David but where is the originator of this chat?
lilyflower I used, in my twenties, to drive through Northumberland twice a week, I remember how one could drive miles without seeing a house or any person.
lilyflower It probably hasn't changed much in 50 either Although I did notice on Google that the place I used to stay in (Jedburgh) before I went through to Newcastle sometimes via the east coast is now bypassed.
davidstockport Gosh I haven't been to Jedburgh in years. East coast of Northumberland, you never know our paths could have crossed.
Ann1984 Evening, no sign of this OP either, but David and I are chatting well. The 'tailored' one posted about 'ladies shoes' tonight!!
lilyflower yeah I seen lol maybe looking for the right pair of shoes to go with the tailored outfit
lilyflower I don't really mind about topic originators not joining in as long as they have said somethng about the subject to start a chat - as this one did. I don't even mind when topics evolve into another one - if it is a natural progression.
In the real world it happens all the time.
