A free hair cut most of the time is a bad haircut from a novice.Although I understand everyone needs to start from somewhere I wouldn't get myself one.The bad news there are still plenty of places out there that will charge you while using inexperienced staff.

Never had a freebie but often have trainees cut my hair. They are well supervised and I have often had better haircuts than from fully qualified stylists. It's a lot cheaper but time wise allow twice as long.

Jamala ....that's great..In Which area do you cut your hair ?last time when I went to cut my hair I had to tell the hairdresser how to do it ...so annoying..even after that I had to fix it at home to..and she called herself professional ...:

Starviewer I think most hairdressers that have trainees offer this option. Last time I went I had cut, roots done and full head of high and low lights, all for £25 (plus a big tip as had still saved a small fortune)

gaelle0501 I have never had a bad cut or colour as they are supervised. Have only heard of one person who wasnt overly happy but that can happen with trained stylists

yes I agree that trainees do a really good job but do take longer but that is not such a bad thing at all. they are making sure they give you a really good cut

Students who are studying usually offer free haircuts and the ones I've seen, do a very good job. Besides, hair grows back so...

one of my friends is doing a course in hairdressing and she needs to practice in haircutting.. 😃 I volunteered, didn't mind as my hair at that time is long anyway.. 😃

I haven't tried freebie haircuts. Once I had a chance from a student stylist. I rejected because I didn't want to risk my hairstyle even though she assured me to do good.

I have had one before from a trainee. a top stylist was right next to the trainee and the stylist even did parts of the hair. I was not disappointed at all.

thanks for all your comments guys, i was a model once (not runway!) and had the best cut ever. the trainee turned out to be a celebrity hairdresser afterwards and was on celebrity big brother!! cost me a fiver though...

I would be a bit sceptical

I know toni and guy often do free cut and colours for techs that are newly qualified or training

I just cherish my hair to much

When my wife was doing my barbering/hairdressing training in college they used to have loads of people come into the college salon as it provided all the services but at a fraction of the price. It was done by trainees but would be supervised and touched up by fully qualified tutors. Now she is fully qualified and we all get free hair cuts 🤣🤣

I have never had one myself. But I'm sure if you go into the hair and beauty departments in colleges you could possibly get one for free as they are not fully qualified

Try your local college where they have hairdressers courses, they always need models.

Yes every time I get my clippers out and shave my head it is free. The clippers themselves cost the same as a haircut. Just shave your head ;)

My dad got a free haircut at the Hair Academy once. He was afraid a little bit but after he joked that the student was more nervous than he was. He has a shorter and curly hair, it got neater and a little bit shorter.

I learned how to cut my boyfriend's hair so he is getting a great haircut every time 😃 The first time took me about 3 hours, now I am under 1 hour, using scissors and clipper 🙂

No never, my hair is not that long but past by shoulders and I remember I wanted to cut my hair just a abit.

Next thing I knew I was like in 4-5 salons asking for the price and the price depends on length of your hair.

Price?

£80-£100 for length of my hair...

So I asked for trim most places was like £30-£50

A friend of mine had a salon and made me pay just £15 it was only a trim but that was very kind of her!

Normally price is £30 at her salon... For my length of hair

I rather not really cut my hair now but back then if I had a free hair cut

It would have been great!!!

Plus my hair is at 3 different lengths

Longest which is like 30% of my hair which is like quarter way down my back.

(so it's not half way down my back)

The other length is like tiny bit past my shoulder.

Other parts are all different in forth of my face.. but they still charged me for the longest part of my hair!

45 years ago my hairdresser asked if I would model for him in a hairdressing awards type thing in London. He was going to enter me in the unisex section. On the day I nearly cried at the result, little better than short back and sides, as I waddled round the catwalk, yes, waddled, I was 8 months pregnant! 👱
