Free Samples from Shops
Freebies
I am going shopping today and was wondering how you go about picking up free samples. Do I need vouchers or do I just ask?
The Body Shop will give you a free sample of any product if you ask for it. It encourages you to do this on their website so you don't have to be shy about asking. The department stores tend to give them out if you show interest in the products. Tell them what you're interested in and just ask if they have a sample you could try.
I took an email for a free serum sample to the Estee Lauder counter today, she said to me I wasn't old enough to need it (not in a complimentary way) so I said I was 40 and she kind of pulled her face & said 'well you don't look it' but again not in a nice way, almost as if I was lying!! so I asked if there were any and she just said 'NO' not going to bother trying again! That put me right off.
That's bad. I would send Estee Lauder a complaint. I was once accused of lying when I told a sales assistant I already had the product she was offering me. It's bad form and I'm sure the company would want to know.
solomuz It is crazy isn't it. When you buy a skincare product you are looking at say £50 so it is not really asking much to get a pleasant sales assistant! A smile & a 'Oh I am ever so sorry we have distributed all the samples we received' isn't asking too much I don't think
SandyRhodes I know. Whatever happened to the customer always being right? This is a link to Estee Lauder's customer care page if you need it: https://www.esteelauder.co.uk/customer-service At the least they should send you out the free sample you wanted
I have always found that the clinique assistants are wonderful. I took my mother in law to the debenhams counter to get a foundation sample and the woman offered me one as well. Plus she gave us loads of advice. Luckily I have never had a rude sales assistant when asking for samples, but my mother in law has encountered a few and she always complains! She says if you are spening a lot of money on a product, whether make up or skincare, you need to make sure it is right for you so you aren't wasting money! I would complain to Estee Lauder.
well I braved it. Boots were rude, and Even said I need help with my wrinkles too. How bloody rude xxThe body shop more than helpful
If free samples aren't available freely then better not ask, sales assistant will be glued to the customer till he/she buys or leaves.
The thing is these companies are advertising to get you to go in store and ask for a sample. They don't say you can only have one if the sales assistant deems you worthy. I can understand them not handing them out indiscriminately to every passerby but when you've gone to the store specially with the advert in hand they shouldn't question what age you are or why you want the sample. Even if you look 16, maybe you're getting it for your grandmother. Every potential customer should surely feel welcomed. Isn't that the point of a sales assistant? *rant complete*
Just ask for the staffs name and write a complaint or speak to manager. No one should ever treat you like that. Regardless if it free or not!
