Ask a Question

Love a full English at the weekend but always think beans ruin it a bit and don't start with putting chips on there !!

What do you NOT like on a fry up

I don't like tomatoes, beans, fried eggs, mushrooms as sometimes these can be slimey, fried bread. My grill up consists of Bacon, black pudding, sausages, poached egg and sometimes toast. It sets you up for the day, so it's brunch πŸ™‚

Bossclaz You're quite right, as we always keep telling kids 'try it, you might like it'. But they say you eat with your eyes and plus knowing what it is made from lol. Strangely enough I always used to do it for breakfast for ex hubby but was never brave enough to try myself.

Mushrooms and tomatoes, I'm not a massive fan of fried bread either.

Our fry consists of bacon, sausage, potato bread, soda farl, fried egg and beans

They are different types of breads. The first photo is a farl, the second is potato bread. Potato bread is sometimes known as a tattie scone, you use potato instead of wheat. A farl is a type of soda bread. Soda farls are popular in Ulster, where my husband is from and tattie scones or potato bread is popular in Scotland and Northern Ireland. They are both absolutely delicious. We have homemade ones a few times a year.

Unless they're home made I would definitely leave hash browns off the plate and I would avoid a 'lacy' fried egg at all costs. Other than that, everything else is welcomed. 🍴

Imnotcheap I like them but they just don't seem to have much flavour in them anymore. Much better to make your own with plenty of onion and seasoning.

I've never tried making my own how you do it? sunny101

Imnotcheap grated potato rinsed and squeezed, finely chopped onion, plain flour, an egg and salt and pepper. Mix together and fry. It's a standard recipe for hash browns but it tastes soooo much better than the shop bought. (will dig out the recipe if you can't find one you like the look of)

This is a reliable one to follow and because you're the only one who enjoys them making them yourself means you can freeze them.

Bossclaz Totally agree - I recently tried them at home in a steam bag in the microwave. They were lovely but the microwave had to have some serious de-stinking! πŸ˜†

Really dislike mushrooms, smell, flavour, texture is all horrible. Not keen but will eat black pudding. My full english consists of bacon, sausage, bacon, beans, egg, bacon, fried bread, toast, bacon. Possibly an extra egg and sausage and from time to time some hash browns or mini crispy potato things and fried onions

I don’t like tomato. Beans I tend to agree with you but I drain some of the sauce off them which helps. Got to have haggis on though

Its ok until you start adding all the stuff that has been reesting away in a Butchers waste bin for months ( Black Pudding ) . I'm not a vegetarian but some parts of animals are just NOT meant to be eaten by Human Beings 😫.

Black pudding is the only thing I really don’t like on a full English. I’ve tried it several times and just don’t like it.

I like fried bread, but not if it’s soggy, so if it’s soggy fried bread that can be left off too! My uncle always leaves it dripping in fat to the point that it’s more fat than bread, and it’s disgusting, but he enjoys it that way...
