Full List of Key Workers Eligible for School and Nursery Places

In the News

The government has issued this list of the people it defines as key workers. About 20 per cent of children are expected to be eligible to continue to attend school or nursery. They are advised to go to their usual schools on Monday, and from there it will be decided whether some form of streamlining should take place. “Vulnerable” children who are under the care of social workers or have officially statemented educational and emotional needs will also be eligible.

It is expected that many of those who are eligible for school places will not take them up. The official guidance is that where possible children should stay at home.

I am not sure anyone should go to school if we take things seriously....and want to prevent spread...Just think about it health worker`s kids who work with the corona virus will go to school, if they catch it....infect their kids....they infect the others and it will nicely spread.

I do not get it where all of the UK science advice comes from and why it is the opposite what others do? It is going to be so bad soon....we are following Italy`s plan day by day...on Monday we should get full lock down or the numbers will go crazy....maybe they already are because people walking outside, no social distance and this thing is serious....kids can get very very ill....temperature above 40 degrees....

I think it is a great idea as the key workers are keeping the country's running and their children have to go to school to get looked after

I think it's a necessary evil, I'm not happy as my daughter is a key worker and so my grandaughter will be in school, which obviously is a concern. However, over the weekend I have seen various people on Facebook trying to find ways of getting their children accepted at school, despite them not being key workers. This makes me absolutely livid as the more people that do that, obviously the bigger the risks to everyone. Why on Earth would you want to send your child to school at the moment if you didn't have to?
