How Many Furloughed Are Back to Work Now?
Ask a Question
It feels like the UK has just gone back to normal now, excluding some face masks and hand sanitiser.. how many have gone back to work who were furloughed? i am still furloughed because I am pregnant and my partner is also still furloughed (he works in construction) because we’re in Scotland and lockdown is still technically in place, despite it being super busy everywhere you go..
I was not eligible for furlough and probably won't be back at work for a very long time yet. I work with children from birth to teens in very close proximity in vehicles so I think we will be last to go back. If there is a second wave I will probably have used all my savings and be back to square one, then I will have to spend an extra couple of years working in order to pay off my mortgage. Still, this has given me a taste of retirement and I don't like it so let's hope I can stay healthy and carry on working into my 70s.
we’re not in a good position financially either given a cut of overtime and the drop to 80%, my partner has racked up a huge credit card debt he won’t be able to pay off.. but I’m thankful we both still have jobs at the end of it! I hope your situation improves for you
Over 10 million were furloughed 612000 fell off the payroll in March and April. Ruski yesterday was saying yesterday that bosses were preparing redundancy for some employers. I would say around 7 million still on furloughe. We still on it and it's tough it's not enough and so need back work
I am looking for a new job, because my maternity leave will finish and I can not see how can I transfer store in middle of Pandemic. I know they told women on MAT leave can be put on furlough, but I am not sure if I will qualify, Also I think companies will not be happy to do that, because the government will not pay the full amount just part of it.
My husband is also changing his job, because of the 30% pay cut...Companies still did not put people back on full pay.
i hope your situation improves soon, my partner needs to change jobs too, now we have a baby on the way as the pay wasn’t enough even before furlough and he’s commuting for 3 hours a day and spending a fortune on fuel, but we know theres going to be a huge shortage of jobs after all this
sarahgreen15 I know that some of the Europeans are heading home, because of Pandemic. And I am sure there will be shortage in some areas. We already have in NHS....
I was put on furlough leave without furlough pay due to my start date. So I was thankful to go back to work roughly 3 weeks ago, so that I actually have an income coming back in. I work in a main vehicle dealership in the service department not sales, and it has been so busy! Also the sales department very busy, selling 44 cars last week x
I bought a new car (baby on the way and all that) last week and our dealership was the same, they had 2 members of staff to sort out 45 new cars for people!
I was put on furlough 3 weeks after lock down and still on it , I really hope don’t have to go back any time soon as we decided not to send our daughter to nursery ( she is starting reception September so didn’t see the point now plus don’t want to risk her health) , so we are saving around £700 a month on nursery and I am getting 80% paid so we are much better of now , and my partner works from home. Also decided to sell our apartment and move out of UK , also hoping the borders will open soon , but mostly I hope this virus will just leave everyone alone as sick of all that
loveglitches any ideas where you would like to go, my oh wonted to go all his life. Don't you need to move by say September because of brexit

loveglitches my oh said we be in Poland for Xmas now he's gutted no holiday this summer.
Is that as per government guidelines or individual companies? I’ve not heard any advise regarding pregnant people and the official advice, my manager at work has no idea what’s happening either.. it’s stressing me out the thought that they could tell me i have to go back any minute now!
Nino786 I won’t have a choice, if furlough ends and I don’t go back, I won’t have an income or get any maternity pay.. i start my maternity leave in a month so hopefully I won’t be expected back before then..
Nino786 no unfortunately not, I work in a pharmacy so my shop has been open this whole time and there’s no work to do at home
Looks like I will prob not be back until end August and if if that my boss most likely will only bring me back part time
