What Gadgets Are Cluttering Your Home?

Ask a Question

I have a spiralizer and a raclette plus umpteen various shaped cooking tins. The raclette has only been out of box once, it’s so heavy thats why I’ve never used it.

I can’t force myself to get rid of them but they’re taking valuable space.

What have you got that you don’t use?

Are there companies that come to a property and buy stuff? Looking to declutter.

When we downsized a few years ago, we got rid of our food processor, which we occasionally used to grate cheese, a electric steamer, sandwich toaster, loads of baking tins and 2 sets of saucepans. It's amazing what you can accumulate in 20 years in the same house, where we had a large kitchen. We moved to a house with a small kitchen and had to rationalise. Do we regularly use it ?

I know that feeling, we’ve been in our house decades and my husband calls me a hoarder.

LED lights are money saving and haven’t been around decades so if that’s all you’ve accumulated that’s pretty good.

Exercise bikes are probably a common one, great for handing the ironing on. Dvds, CDs and computer games in my house, as they have no value I will not part with them, I know I should.

I don't have anything cluttering up my house. During the 1st lockdown I decided to declutter and as we knew we wanted to move I got rid of absolutely everything that was no longer used and wouldn't be used in the future. We actually moved to a bigger house but I haven't used that as an excuse to get more stuff. We have only what we need and what we use.

I have one of those coffee/hot chocolate makers which I decided to put away in a cupboard last week as it doesn't seem to get used anymore, I will see if we miss it.

You’re lucky to find a spare cupboard, wish I could as I’m dumping things in the garage now.

Where do I start ??? I have so much clutter around my home. Three small coffee machines, video and dvd recorders, three TVs that still work and loads of cd’s. haven’t started on clothing, shoes, handbags and kitchen gadgets. We have decided to clear out all this clutter once and for all. Need some ideas where to take some of the stuff. I don’t want to sell on eBay as I read there are a few scammers and I don’t want to be ripped off. Image

You could donate most of your old belongings to charity shops or there might be a local group in need.

Sugarbabe you can try selling on Facebook Marketplace, that way you get cash in hand.

So many! The biggest one is a juicer. As I’m diabetic I’ve been advised against fruit juices. Since then it’s been sitting there

I bought a juicer a long time ago, quite large, used a kilo of carrots to make a small measure of juice. Realised I rather eat the fruit and veg.

Pjran Yes I think the juicer looses a lot of the fibres

I have a cordless vax that doesn't hold its charge. I hate clutter and usually clear things as soon as I'm finished, but this seems to be staying around. Reluctant to bin it / take it to the dump, but not sure where to take for people to use even as spares parts!

Check your local Facebook page to find out if there’s a bunch of retired men who help by repairing, or try to fix broken things.

FG280 Hi, try Gumtree as people are always looking for spare parts. I’ve bought spares for my hand held Dyson and a new battery for it from eBay. Image

snoogans888 Pjran we also have a tool library. You can donate old or used tools, they make sure they are in good working order.

Then you pay a £20 annual membership and can borrow tools as and when needed, like a library. It is fantastic to encourage more diy, save expense of buying a tool for only one job, etc.

They also run free workshops. Great to learn, and meet new people!

FG280 that’s a great idea, I’ll look to see if there’s one around here.

We have a leaf blower which takes up so much space in our shed but we feel we can’t get rid of it as our house backs onto a forest so we get so many leaves in our garden. It would be great to just hire it out once a year!
