Ghost Account?
Ask a Question
Just tried to enter a competition for a spa break with BBC countryfile website and could not remember if I was signed up to the site or not. Put in my normal (and only) email address along with the password I use for all comp sites and got this message:
This account is a ghost account and therefore cannot be used for local authentication.
Anyone know what this means or why I got it?
I typed it in to google and it came up with this - Ghost followers, also referred to as ghosts and ghost accounts or lurkers, are users on social media platforms who remain inactive or do not engage in activity. They register on platforms such as Twitter and Instagram. These users follow active members, but do not partake in liking, commenting, messaging, and posting.
From what I can gather it must mean that you have been inactive on that account for a while? But not sure how you go around sorting it, sorry!
Thanks Alice. It sounds awful but I guess it is true as I often feel forced to sign up to various websites in order to enter tempting competitions, which of course is what they want you to do.
They are often sites I would not subscribe to so I do not interact but then it is their own fault for making it compulsory lol.
PS Didn't think to Google it!
