Pay all bills by direct debit, divide what is left of your income roughly by 4 and never spend more than that in one week. You will then have the same weekly amount available no matter how far or near payday is.

I also apply this to holiday money. Say spends are £70 for a 7 day holiday, therefore £10 per day. If you only spend £8 on one day you can spend £12 the next.

Always pay your credit card bill IN FULL every month, so that you don't spend what you don't have.

Figure out exactly how much you have coming in each month and how much you spend and then figure out where you can easily reduce your costs.

We are not frivolous with our money but if we had to cut back I know exactly what the cuts would be!

Write down your ingoings and outgoings after for one month only spend as you would but keep receipts or write down what you have spent that day and look back at what you are spending on to see where you are going wrong. Me and my partner did it and it works x

Buy supermarket offers in bulk especially jars, toilet rolls, tea and coffee. Only buy what you can afford and need.

Switch your bank account often to benefit from the new customer bonuses. You can do it once a year I think.

Pay by DD as you gets slight discounts for doing so. Write down income vs outgoings so you know what you have left. I have an excel spreadsheet which shows all ins & outs which is continuous, bring forward the payments each month to keep a running total and you will always know where you are. Pay off your 'cashback' credit card in full each month, so no interest to pay and with the benefit of a cashback amount to spend each year as you choose.

Only buy things that you need even if you think its a bargain

Cross of your Christmas gift list all unnecessary people, work colleagues, neighbours etc and especially those we are trying to impress.. but never do.

Only buy things what you would actually use or need or gift to someone for an occasion.

I used to buy "bargains" because it was so cheap but I've learnt not to spend when not necessary

do your food shopping between 5-6 pm , loads of reduced going out of date at sometime 90% discount , i havent paid more than 10p for a loaf of bread or rolls for ages

Make sure to find all of your deals on LD, as opposed to other deal hunting sites.
