For me protecting life has to come before protecting jobs so if full lock down is required to get control of covid it must not be delayed.

If we could educate the people who aren't taking it seriously that would be best too many people still not wearing masks or don't realise that it can cause long term problems even if it doesn't kill you

Imnotcheap Unfortunately, they are beyond educating.

There's been people on here recently talking about going away with kids in October half term.

Yeah, good luck with that unless you want to put your entire family at risk.

A lockdown is probably the only chance of preventing many thousands of deaths, but next time I hope it is explained to many mindless morons that they're not exempt from the restrictions.

100% it should have never ended . Until May the government were putting health 1st but then for some unknown reason they chose to open the gates when the problem was still here.

If this was a test to see if we could live with it in society then the test FAILED .I'd appreciate someone from the government to say it didn't work and this is the only other option .I totally agree we spent a fortune during lockdown and yes I know we have to pay that money back but whenever we see a change from national government the reality is a world away from the high street and in real life .

Another lockdown is certainly going to do more harm than good. I have an elderly loved one who is obviously very vulnerable, and even she is fed up of all these restrictions and wants to get back to normal.

Lockdown after lockdown is not a plausible long term solution imo. All fit & healthy people should carry on as normal with the safeguards in place. I keep reading comments such as ' Can't wait for 2020 to end' Bring on 2021 etc. Why? Covid isn't magically going to disappear once we roll into next year. 😄 So do we keep isolating next year? And the year after that? We have to learn to live with it not hide from it.

No , too many people break the rules and think its a fab holiday from work . Myself and my 86 year old father followed the guidelines because of age and ill health for what Raves , protests . Weeks of not seeing loved ones im not doing it all over again unless they bring in the army in to border cities and stop people doing as they please anyway .

This is a deflection from why we haven't got better testing. It's been months now so why hasn't the govt rolled out a massive testing program? What happened to the inexpensive DIY swab tests we could all use everyday - why haven't they been rolled out?

Then we wouldn't need a lockdown.

I don't think that some people are understanding what is going on here.

This is not a common cold that we're talking about.

It's the selfish people that have caused this and will continue to bump up the R rate.

Obviously, they haven't lost anyone close to them or they wouldn't be spouting their crap.

Or are they thinking that it's all a conspiracy? If so, they're either dull as brushes or need to stay off the ket.

And if you are thinking about going on holiday, please stay out of Wales because we don't want you here. We've got enough thick people in RCT and surrounding areas already, so we don't want you down the West.

I totally agree with you, people are selfish, it’s the small minority who think ‘ why should I do this, you can’t tell me what to do, it’s a free country after all” these are the people that have created all of this s**t. I have been in lockdown for weeks, only recently started going to a garden centre, full social distancing etc, etc. should I now stop?

Unfortunately I talked to someone today who lost a loved one and the death certificate said covid 19 and they still don't believe, told me the dr got cause of death wrong. Personally I'm not taking risks it's my job to keep my family safe I will look forward to nice holiday in Wales when it's safe till then home sweet home

Not at all. All that lockdowns do is delay the virus and not actually get rid of it. And if anything, they do more harm than good, both mentally and physically. This virus is never going anywhere and there is no guarantee of a vaccine ever becoming available, so I suggest continue to protect the vulnerable otherwise get back to normal. I am sorry for all of those who have succumbed to covid, but what about all of those who have passed away due to other diseases which could have been easily treated if it wasn't for the lockdown and silly restrictions? Very difficult getting a face to face gp appointment at the moment and check ups, scans and surgeries are being delayed.

As far too many people are ignoring the rules, #Lockdown may - sadly - be the only answer. I don’t relish #Shielding for another four months, but I am prepared to endure a second round of TV repeats if it is going to save lives...!

I have ill health and was in lock down from march to the end of July. Yes there should be a another lock down and soon. When lock down finish it all moved to fast. Young people are party, which are in big groups. They just don't care. I am very lucky I live on a farm and also I live on my own. The only time I go out is every 2 weeks is to the shops for food and straight back. When I am out I see a lot people not wearing a mask and that fights me. I wear my mask from when I leave the house and don't take it off until I am back home. I don't see any one. From one day to the next. I very happy with that. Hope lock down comes soon befor any more love ones die. 😷😷

Nope. Didn't work before and it certainly won't again. Impossible to control a virus even with a full lockdown. We need a vaccine. Only chance we got of beating this.

If the government had bought in stricter rules, heavy fines in the first place, this would not be happening again. If they had shut ALL pubs and restaurants, beaches too, and just paid furlough money to these establishments many people would still be in work. The whole thing is a complete shambles. Boris Johnson couldn't organise a kids tea party, never mind the country.

Shut all pubs , restaurants , beaches etc ? Well that's about 30% of UK jobs ( 15 million folk ) and pay them furlough money till when ? And the money comes from where ? if those folks and businesses aren't paying taxes ?

Not too sure the kids tea party you would organise would be up to much !

I think we need to do something but I’m not sure full lockdown is the answer. If people just did what they’ve been asked we might be able to get some sort of control ... I’ve lost count of the people I’ve heard say I’m not isolating or getting my child tested because of a cold ... no I wouldn’t for a cold either but if they have a persistent cough and/ or a high temperature it’s possible it’s not just a cold and they are infecting everyone around them 😡 I know it’s frustrating to have to isolate and take time from work/ school again (I’m in this situation right now) but what could be mild cold like symptoms to one person could be life or death to another!!

Yes definitely if people didn’t think it’s over and get into each other’s pockets we wouldn’t be in a serious 2nd wave the amount who think it’s ok to not social distance now is sill

Yes! I think we should go back into full lock down. Personally I think we came out too early. And especially when you have massive groups of people meeting in pubs! After a few drinks some of them forget the social distancing and get a bit too close!

No ! There is no magic money tree , we have to keep our economy moving along (although slowly ) to earn the money to keep our country going .

In my view a reasonable balance has been found (at least worth a try ) . Many low skilled/ part time jobs are in the hospitality sector (pubs, restaurants etc ) vital to those workers . Closing at 10 pm will allow us our social interaction (which all humans need ) we'll just have to get used to the new normal .

Glad that breaching the simple rule of 6 is now illegal , meaning the police will be able to disperse groups of more than 6 indoors or outdoors and impose fines if necessary .

It is such gatherings that have brought us to this stage after all ! had people used common sense from the start we wouldn't have got to this point .

I've been able to play golf with my mates , socialise in small groups at the pub , go shopping , go to work all whilst keeping a yard or two distant - Not Rocket science and not too difficult !

Just treat everyone as if they have COVID (including yourself) , observe social distancing and we will keep the infection down . This is the "last chance saloon " If the COVIDiots carry on the way they have been for the last 4 months then the full lockdown that will ensue will be the least of our worries !

The economy is crumbling people are committing suicide all over the place, cancer sufferers are not getting diagnosed early enough. There are a lot of other issues going around also, if people would just listen and respect the rules!!

Sadly they didn't respect the " rules " - That's why we are in this position . Now it's about to become law . Bars closing at 10pm so a lot less early morning hassle for our police - Should be plenty of manpower available to "educate" those who continue to put their families and grandparents at risk with illegal gatherings .

I hope they use the fines (after perhaps a warning ) . 4 months too late sadly - this situation is not a joke as many are still stupid enough to believe !

No lockdown, every person should have the common sense to know by now whats best for them. What is the point of locking down a percentage wont adhere to it. You have these protesters, Antifa, BLM, and a bunch of non conformist who do not care about anyone other than themselves.

I'm in the vulnerable category with my Grandson, we had only just come out of lockdown after 6 full months went out a couple of times then lockdown again. Myself I will look after myself and Grandson anyone being silly around this virus will be banned from coming near us. If we need to go out we will stick to the rules.
