Just get on with life. Life's for living and enjoying. Not for hiding in our houses for the rest of our life's. You could be knocked down by a bus or fall off a kerb and crack your head are you going to stay in for that.

If you get knocked down by a bus , you get injured - end of , no one else suffers .

If by your cavalier attitude you catch COVID you WILL then infect dozens of others (without realising it ) - your Mum , Dad , Grandma , workmates etc . Then they WILL in turn infect others ad infinitum .

How many of your acquaintances and family will you infect before it dawns on you ( and others with the same stupid view ) that your selfish , mindless attitude is the very reason that the infection is spiking again and more people will sadly die in the forthcoming weeks .

This. This is the type of fearmongering that the media promotes and then, of course, people believe them just as is.

This virus has a 98% chance of survival so I'm more concerned about the spread of false information which in turn leads people to be scared and afraid of everything around them.

God knows why anyone drives or walks alone with a mask on. The virus isn't airborne. Golfforall

PhilipMarc Quite right ,no need or requirement to wear a mask when driving or walking alone (have you read the guidelines ? Thought not !

However when liable to come into contact with others ie Shops, Public Transport etc there is as a small cough can carry several yards .

Really think you should familiarise yourself with the facts especially as you appear to be totally confused by what you have read (presumably off non official websites ?) .

I cant see a full lockdown coming unless the buffoon's hand is forced as the economy would get battered, it doesn't need to as enough money about. Lockdown ended too quickly and the government encouraged 65 million people to go into pubs with the eat out to help scheme and opened schools, then stating the coronavirus infection rates are increasing, no ****! Old and young have contributed towards the increased infection through illegal gatherings and refusing to wear masks. If the government actually followed there own rules instead of having the idea of one rule for the government a different rule for the public, then we might have had a better approach to rules.

Why do so many people not realise that the hospitality industry is 30 % off the UK economy ? Close it down and where does the tax income come from ?

Folks also fail to realise that 100% lock down is really bad for the mental health and wellbeing of the population .

The "Buffoon" as you put it is taking the best scientific advice to attempt a very difficult and unpopular balancing act . Personally I think its a reasonable attempt , how would you go about it ?

Hindsight is a wonderful thing when you which to criticise for solely political reasons !

The big mistake he made was to trust the population with having the intelligence and common sense to abide by the guidelines we were set many months ago . As we know every single day there were hordes of brainless ,selfish "citizens" totally ignoring said guidelines (we've seen some commenting on this post !) .

Golfforall You think the buffoon is doing a good job?

Also if they top companies actually paid correct tax then more money would able to support the hospitality industry.

Why would the public want to follow rules when a person who created the rules then broke the rules and got away with it.

Getsome That's very old news that keeps on getting regurgitated by those politically motivated . The crisis is now , caused by hundreds of thousands of people ignoring the guidance that has been in place since May .

Probably justified (in their immature minds ) by the actions of one bloke 7 months ago !

Immature at best , highly dangerous in any case .

Golfforall Getsome Imnotcheap lizreidx Having read all the comments on this topic I am the first to admit I am as bewildered and confused as the next person. But one thing I know for sure is that we have brought this upon ourselves and the earth is at war with us.

Whilst I am not bothered at lack of interest in my David Attenborough topic I will say that a title does not always reflect the comments within.

Businesses and their mental capacity will drain with depression.

I can't believe some people think lockdown is the answer to everything. Absurdity.

No. I am afraid the economy and people need protecting. Whether we like it or not, the wheels of the country need to keep moving. Jobs still need to be fulfilled.

Job creation has paused because of the virus and this means that anyone who was self-employed, and others, have been let down.

I think we should all take responsibility for ourselves. I do not want to wear a face-covering in the open air as I am going about my business. That would be a step too far! There is no need for it.

My shopping and essentials are all delivered to me safely and covid-secure.

My steps: face, hands, space, rule of 6 and an unfathomable, just announced, 6 months of this craziness. This will ruin this country. Simply my view.

Pandemics will be a thing of the future as we chop down and use more of the earth's resources. It is causing the extinction of large animals which prey on small animals so small animals are enjoying a population explosion. The upshot of this is that they are spreading out and spreading disease.

That's mental. Plus, the fact that they're normalizing lockdowns means people will happily give away their freedom in order to stay in house arrest.

People are losing their jobs, becoming suicidal, depressed, kids aren't in school when they should be to learn what they need, etc.

Smh. Bizarre world this has come to be.

I think those who are scared of the 'plandemic' and want to stay home, don't go to work, don't send the kids to school, fine, you stay home. Now how you pay your bills and if you are happy to end up on the streets, that's your business. Those of us who want to carry on as normal can. Put your masks on inside your houses, keep your windows shut, do not ever go out ever again. Have a nice life doing it. I'm sick of it!!!! It's not real! Do some research. there's nothing going on at my local hospital - I know for a fact! I know a lot of NHS staff, some in management. Nothing going on. Never was.

So you believe every country in the world got together secretly and planned to fool billions of people into believing there was a pandemic? Yep, that works for me🤔

I do believe this virus is real, just that there has been a huge overreaction to it. Yes, we do need to take certain precautions and protect the vulnerable, but is it really any worse than let's say flu and pneumonia? Unfortunately, there is no guarantee there will ever be an effective vaccine and we certainly can't live with lockdowns and restrictions forever. I also believe that lockdowns are doing more harm than good. Not only to the economy, but also to health and wellbeing.

Not a full lockdown - but much tighter restrictions. Protecting life is important protecting jobs is just as important. How can you live with no job and unable to afford food?

What needs to be done is shut the pubs and restaurants full stop. Just in a 2 Mile round trip of my aera alot have come from them. People stop ordering them daft sunflower straps around their necks to avoid wearing a mask. If you can't wear a mask stay indoors go for walk in visor this virus can be controlled if everyone works together to fight it. But sadly to many retards who only think of themselves

Ann1984 I have one of those for a reason. I have an invisible disability. To those who are able-bodied, and are getting these for purely selfish reasons, shame on them. Seriously peeps are losing their self respect and throwing dignity out of the window. Xx

It’s a tough one! I’m really struggling with the though of full lockdown again.

But .... I do think they need to act quickly if it’s going to happen ... little point shutting the gate after the horse has bolted!!

At the end of the day the economy will recover, can’t back lives that are lost.

Yes definitely if they think its the only way to save lives. Children were dying without being able to see their parents. None of this should be happening, so devastating as it all is for us. Lives matter more than our livelihoods

YES definitely full lockdown if needed n it looks like it’s needed now so why waste time AND Life’s .. pub bars n restaurants close at 10pm HELLO BUT VIRUS ISN’T GOING TO WAIT TIL 10.05pm BEFORE IT SPREADS they are playing with peoples life’s it’s not right actions must not be delayed keep open what’s necessary close everything else... I know lockdown was tough last time but as a nation if we all do our part hopefully not as many life’s are lost .. also pubs etc open, kids can go to school but you can’t visit someone in their house? It just does not add up

No. We should not go into full lockdown. The economy needs to get back to a little more normality.

We all just need to remember: face, hands, space, rule of 6 - just be sensible. We all just need to be mindful of each other. It really is not rocket science.

Anyone not wearing a mask as instructed by the government in public places such as shops etc...

Anyone travelling, is simply selfish. The more people we meet the more chance we have of catching and spreading the virus. It really is that simple. When did we become a nation of people who are so 'entitled'?

It goes beyond belief how people are not taking this seriously for themselves, their family, and others around them.

I feel like I am living in a dystopian, Danny Boyle 28 Days reality...

I strongly believe we should. My youngest daughter has had a case in her class bubble so gone into isolation my son is in same school but a different class the school asked could we still have him to attend which we replied with a strict no as it doesn’t make sense to keep one home and send the other personally I think the whole school should have been shut down and not just the one class. I know it’s very frustrating for everyone and a huge setback in all directions but the health of loved ones and others is far more valuable I strongly believe lockdown was lifted too early and the restrictions don’t make any sense 😔
