Would You Go Forward or Backwards?

Ask a Question

Had an interesting thought and I’m stuck on which way I would I go.

If you had the opportunity to visit 1000 years into the past or visit 1000 years into the future?

Would the curiosity of how the world was 1000 years ago and how factual is our historical information?

Or

Would the curiosity of what the world has become in a 1000 years knowing you won’t ever see it again or change it?

It's a great chat topic! I first thought that it would definitely be to the future to have a sneaky peek but I think it would make me very low if there were no improvements in the world. I'd expect better health, less poverty and discoveries that could help us all. Perhaps it would be safer to look to the past, be the fly-on-the-wall, and see if the documentation of history was accurate. I think the smells of the past would be disturbing and shock us all. Lynibis here's a topic to get your teeth into. Getsome have you got any major reservations on which way you'd jump?

Honestly I don’t know which one I would pick as I would want to do both. I thought future but future descendants of my family would have to potentially go through it if it’s horrendous but curiosity still spikes lol. Then I thought past so see where I could have descended from and see where I live was like back then. But then I thought past has been and people have some idea but no idea of the future. It’s actually a hard one for me to decide

Getsome I admit I would want to know what's ahead but could I live with the knowledge? Best to go back and discover my long line of peasant ancestors.

angemski I’m interested in space and I believe there is another planet with life out there so in 1000 years they could have made contact or even visited and that would be amazing to find out but could be soul destroying knowing I would never experience it, which makes travelling past a better option but curiosity of the future is quite strong lol.

Getsome I share the same view that it's rather insular and arrogant to believe that we are the only things in the universe that have evolved. My curiosity is just not as strong as yours. 😆

Johnny As I've said before, there isn't one, so I won't be able to join in the discussion.

Thats quite smart! Get to see the best of both worlds! I'd say future too and then if I can be bothered go visit the past

The past. I'd like to go back & meet my distant relatives. I'd be interested to see how alike I am to any of them & if I would have liked them. Would also be interesting to see how true some family rumours really are.

Forwards. It would be interesting to see what happens in the future - unless we've killed everyone and everything by then. Plus, things don't tend to work out well in time travelling films when people when people go back.
