Going to the Airport
Ask a Question
Suppose to be at the airport 2 hours before flight but I enjoy giving myself longer. How long do you prefer?
i tend to aim for 2 and a half hours coz I love to be early and I’m a worrier we got to the airport to go to italy 2 hours early and got through baggage, customs and security within about 15 minutes because scotland has such small airports and i was used to flying from london
I tend to stick to the 2 hours, by the time I get through security, buy something to eat and a newspaper to read there isn't too long to wait.
I like to go for 2 hours but if your anything like my dad he likes to get there a good 3/3.5 hours before the flight! absolute madness!!!
I am normally there between 2-21/2 hrs before depending on traffic, rather be early than late.
I always get there 2 hours before because I am a worrier and it’s been drummed into me other half hates it! And every time he is right, straight through security and just waiting around for the flight lol
I like to get there earlier too. I feel like our holiday begins when we arrive at the airport so sooner the better
I try to get there at least 3 hours, and might even panic if I only had 2 hours. A few months back I was panicking as I was stuck in traffic abroad - it was 7pm and my flight was at 9.30pm, and the estimated journey time was 90 minutes...when I got the email to say my flight was delayed I was so relieved
It depends on the time of the flight, where you are, how you're getting to the airport and the distance you'll need to travel. If I'm going from home I'd aim to be there 3 - 4 hours early, unless I'm getting a ridiculously early flight. It usually takes me an hour plus to get to the airport. I'll be travelling across a busy city and delays or other issues are not uncommon. I would rather relax at the airport with a cup of coffee than wait at home for an extra hour or two and increase the chances of missing the flight.
