Certainly recommend the Shark brand of Hoovers .

We went from a Dyson to a Shark last year after many years using Dyson but much prefer the Shark Hoover

I loved my Dyson and thought there was nothing to compete with it until I got a Shark lift off. It is really thorough and picks up more fine debris than anything else I've ever used. Another plus point is that it's nowhere near as heavy as the Dyson. (Shark is recommended for pet hair too)

After lots of umming and arrrring I finally got a cordless gtech. The manouvreability is amazing and very light, especially as I was struggling to get previous one upstairs, good suck up too. However, my bestie got a Shark and highly recommend that, apparently a friend of hers thought she had bought new carpets after the first use!!!

I wonder if we will get more powerful vacuums again now we are leaving the EU. My old vacuum is 2900W and has incredible suction but most of the modern vacuums are sub 1500W and although I'm sure my vacuum isn't 2x the power of those it does seem to be more powerful overall. Pet hairs, dust filtration, carpet brush efficiency and overall air watts are all factors. I've heard good things about the Shark vacuums although must admit I absolutely hate the look of them. I've seen reviews where the cordless Dysons were far superior to Shark models but I don't think that is the case with corded vacuums which I think Dyson has stopped developing. Personally I would never buy a bagged cleaner like a Miele so they are not on the radar for me. It would have to be a cyclonic model with permanent filters like a Dyson, Shark, Vax etc.

I have to admit I'm often swayed by good deals so if I see a great offer on a vacuum and then research it and find it meets my criteria with decent reviews that would probably be my choice.

I have a cordless Hoover which I’ve found to be really good, with an attachment designed for picking up pet hair

I love my Shark. It's the best vacuum i've ever had. I have the duo one that folds over. It's great on the stairs too 😃

I have a Shark LiftAway and actually enjoy hoovering. My carpets are really old and they look new again, it's almost jet propelled so manoeuvring it is easy and I have arthritis everywhere. Would never go to any other make now

I have just changed from a Dyson, which lasted 3 years. I have bought a Shark Lift Away and boy can I notice the difference when hoovering the carpets, it lifts the pile and they look like new. I have also bought a cordless Vax for just a quick hoover and am pretty impressed with this as well.

Shark are good. Got one. However, their pet hair feature is an add-on brush that can only be used handheld, not on the main brush which is annoying. I almost don't see the point - you can't vacuum an entire house or even room with the smaller attachment.

I would definitely recommend shark hoover. I had a Dyson which I thought was good but since I got a shark and noticed the difference I would never go back to a Dyson

I really want to get a Shark vacuum as they are highly recommended. In the meantime I have a Henry numeric which is actually really good for both hard floor and carpets and I have two dogs and a cat and it is good for getting up pet fur.

They are also good for vacuuming cars!
